Hi Michelle. This passage speaks of Jesus Christ. And the Apostle Peter refers to an Old Testament prophecy in verse 6: "Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation: he that believeth shall not make haste" ( Isaiah 28:16).
So Peter reaffirms that it is Jesus Who is this Living Stone, not only a foundation stone & a tried stone on which His Church is built, but One Who is alive forevermore. This Stone, men had rejected (they crucified Him, and do so today in their hearts in their hatred of Him), but He is the Chosen One of God & so precious as God's Son & the Forerunner of our faith (having entered the veil of death on our behalf at the Cross, making those who believe, acceptable to God, & He ever lives as our Great High Priest to intercede for us: Hebrews 6:19,20).
DANIEL 2 and NEBUCHADNEZZAR - In Reply on Daniel 2 - 2 years ago
Daniel said the king's dream was about a giant statue that was destroyed by a stone cut out of a mountain. The statue represented the kingdoms of the earth. The stone cut out of the mountain represented the kingdom of God that would fill the earth.
This comes to pass, and at the end of his punishment, Nebuchadnezzar praises God. Daniel's role is to interpret the dream for the king. The message of the story is that all earthly power, including that of kings, is subordinate to the power of God.
Daniel interprets Nebuchadnezzar's dream. Nebuchadnezzar is humbled twice by God: when he tries to punish the Israelites for refusing to worship an idol and when God punishes him with seven years of madness.
but chosen of God, and precious,
