I think that the role of prophet ended with the completion of Revelation in the 90's A.D. with the writing of this book by the apostle John. There is no new revelations from God. The last words of Revelation warn against adding or subtracting from the Scriptures. So, anyone who says they are a prophet and have new revelations from God is a false prophet. I someone teachers from the Scriptures and expounds on it correctly, this could be considered using the gift of prophecy, which is telling forth the truths of God. Pastors and teachers do this in their service to the body of Christ.

There is only one way, knowing God's word. When you hear preaching some of them boys can make sins sound good (I'm exaggerating, some) but if you don't know God's word you really have no idea do you. 2Coronthians 13:12 Study to show theyself approved unto God a workman that needeth not be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

2Timothy3:12Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.

13But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.

14But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them;

You didn't say if it is a within family issue, with a neighbor, an enemy; a legal issue or workplace?

First, sit down and write down all the facts. Good or bad.

What was said, replied or alleged. Legal or illegal.

If it's a legal issue, after you get all the FACTS on paper, you can make an appointment with a Legal Aid Attorney to see if you have a case. Google legal aid in your city. Cost may be nothing.

As a Christian, you need to keep everything honest and open before God. Then you can pray for Him to help you to resolve the issues.

Sometimes we need to settle ourselves first.

Are you asking about being protected from others telling false information about you?

With respect and affection . The best way to protect yourself from false doctrines and people who call themselves prophets is to become familiar with the Truth and the real prophets which can only b found in the Bible . As u read it u will notice that no one chose to b a prophet , many of them r reluctant because prophets often lived very hard and dangerous lives , God chose them . If u know the Truth u can't b deceived by a lie .
