To be a disciple of Jesus Christ, one must do the will of the father by following and doing his word but it seems impossible since a righteous man can sin 7 times a day. How can one be free of a guilty conscience if they know they always will be dealing with the flesh nature?

    Hi Sandra,

Believers can be comforted by knowing that God completely understand our weakness towards resisting the sinful nature. And in His perfect knowledge, He chose before creating the world to redeem us through His Son, Jesus Christ, because He knew Jesus alone would be the perfect sacrifice for sin. So, we can rest in God's work in saving us, knowing we can confess our sins and He is faithful and just to forgive us. (see 1 John 1). Our guilt for sin has been removed once and for all in Jesus' death and resurrection, and unrighteousness has been exchanged for His righteousness before God.

So, although we should admit that we continue to be sinners even after conversion, we can know that we are fully redeemed and made clean by the washing and regeneration of the Holy Spirit. We should feel sorrow when we sin. But we should not feel hopeless, because Jesus is our Peace between us and the Father, opening the way to the Father by His blood shed for us, which is all-sufficient to remove our sin and make us holy before God. So, we should not be prideful or haughty, thinking we are sinless, because no one is in this life, nor should we revel or brag about our sin to others. We should be repentant and pray for God to help us overcome sin, learning to hate sin and love what is godly.

    Hope this helps.
