The verses in Corinthians clearly indicate that we are not as the rest of the world as to the fate of our loved ones. To be absent from the body is present with the Lord; and in the transfiguration we see Moses and Elijah in a glorified state (although to be sure Elijah never died). We will have perfect celestial (as it were) instead of mortal; terrestrial perishable bodies. Each individual no doubt was created unique and with their level of authority will rule and reign in different methods in eternity. It is obvious even with the horrifying account of Lazarus and the rich man that conversations among the lost have no recognition issue. As it states in Ecclesiastes the soul of a man goes upward; and an animal downward after death. Some could argue in Ezekiel as well as to whether the souls of kings in hades are having conversations with Antichrist after he is cast out as an "abominable branch" unworthy of burial on earth.
The real problem it seems to me is that we are so accustomed to viewing each other in ways familiar to the flesh rather than tabernacles of the Spirit of God. Christ Himself said to Peter that it was only the Father who showed him who he was; the Son of God rather than a good man; or a prophet as others stated. This revelation is distinctly given to God's chosen people; so that the real glory of God cannot be appreciated among the unregenerate. It should be remembered also that we will rule and reign with Christ over the earth (in the Millennium over natural men); as well as all eternity.
We were created originally in the image of God; now we are more accurately in the "image of Adam" until saved and now in the image of Christ. We will be like the angels someday; with a resurrected body able to do things like Christ (probably referring in Joel to such who are part of God's army climbing walls; and being unhurt). We must remember our earthly existence is a mere shadow of what is yet to come.
I'd like to offer an alternative viewpoint to the absent with body present with Lord phrase.
First, it doesn't say that in the Bible. That phrase is actually from 2 Corinthians 5:8 where Paul said he would "rather" be absent from the body, and present with the Lord. He didn't say in 100% of all cases when people die that 100% of the time they will be "immediately" with the Lord, regardless. If it was the second phrase it would be clear what it means, but all it means is Paul stating his preference. It certainly doesn't mean Hitler and other mass murderers are with the Lord right now, simply because of this one verse.
Second, people often quote the verse about the man on the cross that Jesus said would be in "paradise" on that day as support. But Jesus didn't say 100% of all people, from this moment onward will 100% go to heaven, and zero people going to hell. And the word paradise is not necessarily the same as heaven. Some believe this is a waiting area for the dead.
Lastly, there are many more Bible verses indicating that the dead are 'sleeping' and are awaiting the Lord to meet in the air and then face judgment. It says all will be judged, not just some. So, believing people go immediately to heaven without waiting on the Lord, and skipping judgment doesn't align with the other scriptures.
Matthew 12:36, 2 Corinthians 5:10, Revelation 20:11-15 - People are all judged on the same day. Lots of people seen in the same place.
1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 says the dead will rise and those living will meet the Lord in the air. Would it make sense for someone to go heaven, then back to earth to rise up, then back again to heaven?
When people die they 'sleep' awaiting the Lord's return as it indicates in Daniel 12:2, Job 14:12, 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18.
Yes, I believe we will see our loved ones in Heaven, and yes, "In Heaven"
I like the scripture free has given and king David seems to suggest the same.
"But now he is dead, wherefore should I fast? can I bring him back again? I shall go to him, but he shall not return to me".
2 Samuel 12:23.
Here's a few of many scriptures that suggests we will be in Heaven.
Revelation 4:1-2. After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven: and the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet talking with me; which said, Come up hither, and I will shew thee things which must be hereafter. 2) And immediately I was in the spirit: and, behold, a throne was set in heaven, and one sat on the throne.
Revelation 4:4.
Revelation 4:10.
Revelation 5:1-3. Notice verse 3- "And no man in heaven", nor in earth, neither under the earth, was able to open the book, neither to look thereon." Not only are there people in Heaven and on earth here, but this is also before the tribulation!!
Revelation 5:13-14. And every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I saying, Blessing, and honour, and glory, and power, be unto him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever.
And the four beasts said, Amen. And the four and twenty elders fell down and worshipped him that liveth for ever and ever.
There is several different views on whether we will be in heaven or not.
I'm not interested in going into that debate besides your question was "Will we see our loved ones in Heaven' and answering your question is most important.
One I don't believe eternity is in heaven the Bible doesn't teach it but I often wonder if our lost family members will be remembered by us? I think heaven will be about the worship of God and the lamb Rev 22 is a must read in understand eternity this verse is the key to God's real plan for the world, Revelation 22:2
"In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations."
Isn't that amazing and it puts into perspective every knee shall bow and every tongue shall confess that Jesus Christ is the Lord. One other verse the great Chistian minds never interpret or notice is said twice, Once in the beginning in Rev 1 and again in the end in Rev 22, Revelation 1:3
"Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand."
Revelation 22:7
"Behold, I come quickly: blessed is he that keepeth the sayings of the prophecy of this book."
So rather questions of these why don't focus on scriptures as these and seek what we are to keep and do. What are those things we are to keep that are written in Revelations? See what heaven will be won't add to you salvation but keeping what God tells us will
Dear YES we do. There will be joy of reunion and praise there that day. And every day after. That is why we always look ahead, even if we remember ours.
1 Thessalonians 4:13But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.
14For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.
15For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.
16For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
17Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
