Bro. Dan Gbu but you are sadly mistaken.....If righteousness came by the law Christ DIED IN VAIN and the Cross was just foolishness...We must be bornagain of an incoruptible seed even by the Words of God..which is that New Covenant....Its them that are born of God that cannot sin...which is the H.G. the Child of Promise....he it is that cannot sin...Thus the LAW is fulfilled by our new innerman which is that NEW HEART AND NEW SPIRIT ( THE H.G....We must birth a new innerman which is the H.G. he it is that cannot sin....Which is the manchild our fruit unto God the H.G....Thats y he told Nic. a Jew he had to be bornagain...When Jesus said behold I send the Promise of my Father upon you that was baptism of the H.G....That was the new covenant in his blood, What he did at Calvary....God made a new covenant at Calvary and it was by Jesus blood...Thus there is only 1 valid Baptism which is H.G. BAPTISM....We must birth a new innerman which is the H.G. THE MANCHILD that is gonna rule all nations...no exceptions...This is who Jesus was speaking of when he said we must keep the law, If we wanna keep the law it can only be done by that new new innerman which is the H.G. IN US VIA THAT GOOD SEED THE CONTENTS OF THE book in the fathers right hand...Note the Woman keeps the commandments simply b/c she has given birth to a new innerman which is the H.G. the Manchild that is gonna rule all nations...The woman is the result of the sower and his precious seed that new covenant in his blood....Her Child is he that is born of God and cannot sin....Thus she keeps the commandments....Her Child is God's Granson simply b/c Jesus is his father...It was Jesus that sowed his seed in this woman...when he breathe on them as his breath was his words which are his seeds ...Her Child is the beginning of an Israel of God...Remember that great great Promise
Jesus is gonna be multiplied as the Stars of heaven...Thus an israel of God is in the great Promise of multiplication of his seed.
Righteousness comes by Jesus Christ, specifically by His Spirit which empowers/enables His followers to obey the Commandments.
It is also NOT 'works salvation' to obey the 10 Commandments when it is the Holy Spirit of Jesus Christ who is doing the work. We are not capable of obeying by ourselves, but His Spirit has already lived a physical lifetime of obeying all the Commandments of God Almighty. John 15:10 And it is 'primed' to do that for us, combined with our trust in Him and our submission to His will.
Christ died so that we can be forgiven of our sins - period! That is, if we sincerely ask for this forgiveness. If we don't ask - we don't get forgiven. If we keep sinning we must keep asking for His forgiveness. It's ongoing. Remember, God knows our heart. If we are not sincere - he will know it. If we keep sinning, at some point, we have to ask ourselves are we really saved?
Galatians 6:7
"Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap."
If we continue to sin we can surely die.
Hebrews 10:26
"For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,"
If we are truly walking with Christ, we will be following all of His Commandments!
David didn't stop sinning . He loved God very much , however he was unable to b sinless and had to rely on God's mercy , even though he was under the law , which he broke more than a few times , the law didn't save him . God forgave him because He knew that David loved Him , genuinely loved God . God says : I will have mercy , not sacrifice .
Sadly , we never stop sinning . Even after we know the Gospel . We r unable to save ourselves , we r unable to b sinless , Christ is our righteousness because we don't have any of our own .
Christ did save us but we have to indeed repent of our sins! Believing without repenting is useless. We must be born again and live anew!
I agree we are all sinners to some degree. So does that mean we should NOT strive to be sin free? Jesus believes we can stop sinning, if not, why would he instruct the adulteress to "sin no more" in this scripture below:
John 8:11
"She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more."
Below, Jesus told the invalid that he just healed to "stop sinning" or something worse would happen to him.
John 5:14
"Afterward Jesus findeth him in the temple, and said unto him, Behold, thou art made whole: sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee."
Why would Jesus tell these people to stop sinning if he didn't feel they could do it? The answer is that with His help and His Holy Spirit we can overcome much sin!
No Bro. Dan its not about US...Its what Jesus did at Calvery...You have not Chosen me but i have Chosen you....If i be lifted up I will draw all men unto me....Its ALL him...We are just the good ground where his seed is sown...And we must bring forth fruit unto God which is a baby Christ the H.G....The Child of PROMISE...This NEW Covenant is a birthing Covenant....Thats y he has to know us...Its his seed that forms a baby Christ in us...Being bornagain of an incorruptible SEED etc even by the words of God that new covenant in his BLOOD...The living WORDS OF God...The contents of that book in the FATHERS right hand that he wrote with his own blood.....Unless ya receive the Kingdom of God as a lil Child you will in no wise enter there in....She brought forth a man child that is gonna rule all nations...Which is the H.G. that Child of PROMISE...My lil Children of whom i travail in birth till Christ is formed in you....Thats y he has to know us..Thats when that good seed is sown in our hearts....Real Faith is the begining of a birth of Christ in us...Thats y Faith is the substance of things hoped for the evidence of things not seen...Its a spritual pregnancy via his seed the living Word...Thats gonna result in HEAVENLY BIRTH...As we have borne the image of the earthly we must also bear the image of the Heavenly....Remember Dan when they argued amongst themselves who was the greatest,...Jesus took a lil Child and set him in their midst ...Which is symbolic that a lil Child that is coming in the end with the Women is our greatest Gift...Which is the gift of the H.G...It all goes back to the great Promise that Christ is gonna be multiplied as the stars of heaven...Thus there is a Child OF Promise in our near future....Thats y elijah has to come and turn the hearts of the FATHERS to the children...Which are spirits th H.G. the gift of God that are gonna be as the Stars of Heaven...OK Lemme go
We r totally unable to save ourselves and we cannot b saved by the law . Galatians tells us everything we need to know about the law . We r dependant on God's mercy . Christ has saved us . We cannot stop sinning even after we know the Gospel . To offend another Christian is a sin , to lust after anything that we don't need or that someone else has and we don't is sin , to limit God is a sin , to doubt one of God's words is sin , the list is endless . Christ has saved us from ourselves . The law condemns us because we r unable to fulfill it all perfectly no matter how hard we try and our hearts condemn us because we r weak sinful flesh and nothing more . By God's grace we r saved , it's not of ourselves . Thank you Alex .
Grae, you are right in that the depth of our own sinfulness we cannot really know. For me, I totally agree that we can never earn our way to being right with God.
So then, why should we keep His laws? Because it is in keeping the 10 commandments and all that God instructs us to do that allows us to give love to God an others. Obeying the commandments benefits others and ourselves, however, God is not benefited by our obedience, as He is in need of nothing from his creation, being self-sufficient and totally satisfied within Himself. But God gave us His laws to obey so that we can receive the blessings that come from obedience that He gives freely.
Obeying what God has commanded helps us to grow in love for Him and others. It helps others when we treat them as God instructs us to treat them. This is why it is important to want to follow God's commandments even though we are under grace. God knows what is best for us, and His commands are surely best for anyone to follow.
I am thankful that I was taught how God saved me from a very young age, and I am also glad that I was taught to obey the commandments from a very young age. Knowing both helped my grow in grace and in knowledge of Jesus Christ. Both salvation by grace through faith and the blessing of obedience to God's law shaped my character both spiritually and physically. Both helped me to love God and love to do what is right. I was not very rebellious growing up. I did not want to be a commandment breaker, not because I thought God would punish me, but because I knew He loved me, so to love Him back I delighted in obeying His commands. Did I sin, yes; often, yes. But I knew I had forgiveness when I failed to obey and the Spirit to help me live God's way. I was blessed with my early exposure to these things. But more so, I was blessed with faith from a very young age (I cannot remember a time when i did not believe in Jesus). Having a right relationship with the Lord all of my life has been my best blessing
Thank you for your response. I believe we are in agreement, and just wanted to comment/elaborate on something. You said: "So then, why should we keep His laws? Because it is in keeping the 10 commandments and all that God instructs us to do that allows us to give love to God an others."
I agree, but I also would like to add that Jesus tells us repeatedly throughout the scripture to follow the commandments, including this powerful scripture spoken by Jesus to Apostle John approximately 50 years after His ascension into Heaven. If the Commandments were nailed to the cross and are no longer viable as many try to argue, why is Jesus still telling us that following his commandments are necessary - 50 years after His crucifixion?
Revelation 22:14
"Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city."
Will those people that don't try to follow His commandments get to enter into the City? It doesn't sound like it to me! This is a very compelling reason for trying follow His Commandments, in may opinion - probably the best reason.
Finally, I agree it is His Holy Spirit working in us, allowing the ability to truly follow His Commands!
Grae....Amen you are so right....Jesus made a New Covenant at Calvary....And these ppl will not even acknowledge it.
If we cd keep the whole law it wd not compare to what he did at Calvary....Behold the lamb of God that taketh away the sins
of the world...And it was God Almighty that was behind this new covenant and the Lamb of God that taketh away the sins of the world.
David was a man after Gods own heart...But the LAW cd NOT help David when he saw Bathsheba bathin...David said in sin did my mother conceive me...There was none righteous no not one...The law was Screaming mankind needs a heart transplant...a new Birth....etc.
Jesus is gonna be multiplied as the Stars of heaven...Thus an israel of God is in the great Promise of multiplication of his seed.
