Why does the prodigal son return home . He wasted his father's money in riotous living , which I think means a lot of sinful ( unlawful ) behaviour . Under the law he's done for . Outcast . He returns home because he has faith in his father . He knows and believes that his father loves him and is willing to forgive him because he is merciful . Can u c the message to us in this parable ? The law isn't merciful . God is . Through our faith in what Christ did for us we r God's children . We r forgiven and welcomed by Him . He saw us , each one of us , coming from afar and He ran out to welcome us and bring us in to His Kingdom .
You need to read what you are referring to again. It has probably become a misunderstanding. Grae
see here similarities with the prodigal son who returns and us who have received grace before God. And has been justified by our faith in Jesus Christ.
We go to Him and receive forgiveness. Just like the son who goes to his father after floating away the whole patrimony.
In order not to have misunderstandings, it is good to refer to a scripture place. :) Then most people will be enlightened. If i understan this right can u can read about it in Luke Chapter 15
God bless us all with understanding and wisdom in His Holy Name Jesus Christ. Love u all in Christ.
The son departed from the ways of his father (God) and found nothing but misery.
When he returned to his father's ways (The 10 Commandments), he was welcomed with open arms and given comfort and love and hope and all provisions.
That is how the Father is with us. Contrary to OSAS warriors, we CAN depart from the faith and the Bible shows many examples of that. But when we REPENT of our selfish ways, and RETURN to the Father's Ways (the Commandments), He will welcome us back and restore our Salvation.
Actually I'm wrong , I have no problem admitting that . We don't actually hear of Christ breaking the law , his disciples do frequently and he tells the Jews that to b a part of him they must break the law but if we read carefully , Jesus doesn't break the law , he justifies his disciples when they do . Think about that please . When his disciples break the law ,Christ justifies them to the Pharisees , or the lawyers . He covers their law breaks with....scripture , the spoken word of God .He is their righteousness , he is also ours . He doesn't break the law himself , he fulfills it,and yet......even though he hadn't broken the law ,the Jews twist the law in order to justify crucifying him ! The law can b twisted and manipulated by humans , to use to there own advantage . That's what the Jews did . The law , according to humans , is open to interpretation . That means twisting . If we read about what Christ did and said and we take his words and behaviour to our hearts and let him live there then he will show us what to do . It's a bit of a cheesy saying but it's perfect in its simplicity : What would Jesus do ? Obviously we have to know the answer to that question , and we can only do that by reading the Bible . Read , re read and read again , let Christ into your heart and mind , he is the way , he will tell u how to please him and God .
Also , I've never said that we should ignore the ten commandments . I've read and understood Galatians and all the other New Testament books . Therefore I don't believe that I am obligated to follow the entire law to the letter in every situation in my life . It's impossible to keep all the law perfectly , therefore it makes lawbreakers ( sinners ) of us all and therefore worthy of nothing other than death as pronounced by God . The gift of God to Christians is life , in Christ , who willing offered himself to b the perfect sacrifice to cover all of our sins which we all commit every day . Christ did what we can't , he fulfilled the law . We can't . We r now under the grace of God , in Christ . We r not obligated to keep the whole law and we couldn't no matter how hard we tried . There is no forgiveness under the law . David ,as a foreshadow of Christ ,was forgiven for his breaks of the law , because through him God was showing us the future covenant in Christ . Saul died for his law breaks , he represents the old covenant , the law of Moses . Why should Saul die for his law breaks and not David ? They r foreshadows of the old and new covenants . Jesus said that whoever even looks on a woman to lust after her is sinning . My guess is that he was telling us that we all sin in our thoughts , where does sin come from ? Our thoughts first , then we act on and speak our thoughts but even if we leave them in our head they r still sinful . Christ changes our heart , remember ? He's come to turn the hearts of the father's to their sons etc . If we let the spirit of Christ into our hearts he will show us what we must do in any given situation , he is the perfect example of what God wants us to b like ! We need to follow his perfect example . He occasionally broke the law , he trusted in God's love and mercy and thats what we need to do .
Grae, your doctrine is very corrupted with modern church lies. Jesus never ONCE broke the law or that would mean He had sinned. If He had sinned, He wouldn't have been perfectly SIN-LESS on the Cross and His sacrifice/Crucifixion would have had no effect. He obeyed every single one of His Father's 10 Commandments His ENTIRE Life. And He absolutely 100% expects those who love Him to do the same.
John 14:15
John 15:10
1 John 2:6
I am sorry for all who have been brainwashed by modern preachers and teachers of every modern church, as well as big-name pastors on TV and those on Christian Radio. Almost every single one of them preach nothing but unscriptural LIES.
Jesus did not allow, nor encourage, ANYBODY to break the Laws of God. That is plain silly. Jesus IS God. John 1:1, John 1:14 Nothing that was ever created, was not created by Jesus Christ John 1:3 Therefore, the 10 Commandments written IN STONE as a symbol of their FOREVER standing, were written by Christ and they are HIS Commandments. He lived as an example to all those who would follow His Ways (Christians) and He obeyed ALL those Commandments.
Post some scripture to support your claims that Jesus did these things, please.
If u read all my posts u will c that I admitted I got it wrong about Jesus ever breaking any of Moses laws . I'm so sorry I'm just about to go to bed , I work weird shifts , read John Ch 6 V 53-66 . There r plenty of other instances , when the disciples picked corn on the Sabbath , Jesus healed people on the Sabbath . I'm very sorry to say these words to u but if u had a good knowledge of the Bible I wouldn't have to point these instances out to u . Also , my Church is very old-fashioned by today's standard . If it isn't in the Bible we don't believe it . I hope I haven't offended u and I'm sorry if I have .

God bless.
I think that OSAS means "once saved always saved". or the teaching of eternal security.
