The next prophetic event which will & can occur at anytime is the coming of the LORD Jesus in the clouds ( Mark 14:62), 1 Thessalonians 4:14-18. In Act 26:8 Paul ask King Agrippa why we would think it an incredible thing that God should raising the Dead. When Jesus Christ come the the earth he will bring with him the dead in Christ and they will be united with their resurrected bodies a body like unto his (Jesus's) resurrected body Philippians 3:21. We (saved) who are alive and remain shall be caught up into the clouds with the resurrected dead, and so shall we be with the LORD forever, 1 Thessalonians 4:17. When? In such an hour as ye think not Matthew 24:44.
In these times I think it is important to remember the words of Jesus concerning His second coming. Reading through Matthew ch. 24 explains the things that will happen on the earth before He comes again. He warns his disciples that they will be persecuted and put to death all over the world because ALL nations will hate believers (vrs. 4-11), and then in vs. 13 says, "he who endures to the end shall be saved" (after the gospel is preached in all of the world, then the end will come.)
He says that MANY false Christs and false prophets will come in His name (vrs. 5,23-28) doing great signs and wonders.
V. 29-33 says that He will come AFTER the Great Tribulation to gather His elect from all over.
Then in vs. 42, after giving a parable and further explanation of what the world will be like and about the rapture, He says, "Watch, therefore, for you do not know what hour your Lord is coming." and in vs. 44, "Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour that you do not expect."
In ch. 25 He gives the parable of the 20 virgins with lamps waiting for the bridegroom. Only 5 wisely brought oil. In this He emphasizes the need to be ready and properly prepared.
In vrs. 31-44 Jesus explains the judgment, which will follow directly after He returns.
Mark chapter 13 reiterates much of what Jesus said in Matthew, and exhorts his disciples to, "Take heed (of HIS words), watch, and pray, for you do not know when the time is." (vs.33)
Luke 19:11-27 Jesus gives a parable to emphasize the need for us to keep busy until his return with what He has called us to do. We are to continue to be fruitful up to the end.
Elsewhere Jesus says questions "When the Son on Man returns will He find faith on the earth?" And elsewhere that "he who perseveres in faith until the end will be saved." This emphasizes the need for us to guard our faith and feed our faith with the
Word so that we will not be led astray by any false prophets, christs, persecution, or death.
