In Genesis, Chapter 1, Verse 29 & 30 in a more modern interpretation of the bible .. It says that humans were only allowed to eat plants & seeds of the earth, & fruit of the trees. We are, per Gods command, supposed to be vegan?

I was raised that God stated that we could eat meat. We didn't have to be vegan.

We, my family, were very devote Christians. The preacher often ate at our table.

He ate both meat, vegetables, & fruit as we did.

I am very confused ... so I referred to the St. James Bible that I was raised

    to study & read.

I read the same verses in question .. It mentions meat.

So, I would like to know which is correct. Are we, as Christians , allowed to eat meat?

    Thank you .. Sincerely

Dear "Denise Vaughn". you have received nice answers and scriptures here but no one has mentioned what Peter saw on the roof. He was trained in the Jews law and was only allowed to eat what was written there. So we can only imagine what an outcry, it was when he preached that now all the saved can eat everything, Gentiles as well as Jews.

Acts 10:9 On the morrow, as they went on their journey, and drew nigh unto the city, Peter went up upon the housetop to pray about the sixth hour:

10 And he became very hungry, and would have eaten: but while they made ready, he fell into a trance,

11 And saw heaven opened, and a certain vessel descending unto him, as it had been a great sheet knit at the four corners, and let down to the earth:

12 Wherein were all manner of fourfooted beasts of the earth, and wild beasts, and creeping things, and fowls of the air.

13 And there came a voice to him, Rise, Peter; kill, and eat.

14 But Peter said, Not so, Lord; for I have never eaten any thing that is common or unclean.

15 And the voice spake unto him again the second time, What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common.

16 This was done thrice: and the vessel was received up again into heaven.

So my advice is eat what you want, but make sure your food does not cause others to fall. 1 Corintians 8:9

I understand this as the spirit of the times we live in when people seek and believe that the plastic market is more useful than the natural. Unfortunately, this is from the evil. Let me be a fanatic for Jesus Christ instead of believing in all the world's attraction to call what God has created unclean. Amen When He has made it clean, so are we in Jesus' Holy Blood which floated on Calvary and Holy Name Jesus, love u all in Christ.

    Dear

When you see, "the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat", you can read it as, 'to you it shall be for your food'.

Creator God wants us to have a clear mind,

We communicate to Father in Heaven with our senses. Remember: I will early seek my Saviour, I will talk of Him each day ....

A vegetarian diet keeps our blood healthy and clean. While other diet infuses impure properties in human blood like low density lipoproteins, animal harmones, etc.

    We don't need those.

    We are what we eat.

Our moral behaviour is changed by what we consume.

    For Instance,

A lion who is flesh eater is furious animal.

While a lamb or cow is very gentle and calm.

We need to make a choice.

There will be no killing in heaven so no flesh eating. All will be eating fruits, vegetables and nuts.

Pray, God will open our understanding.

    Blessed is His name!

    In Jesus name!

    Amen.

We are not of the law of Moses we are the Gentiles Paul speaks about. We are the generation of faith and grace. 1corinthians 15:3-6

We are allowed to eat meat.

Hi Denise. Yes, we are all allowed to eat meat, as we desire, or even just be vegetarian. The Genesis 1:29,30 references to "meat", is actually "oklah" in Hebrew. And this word is translated as 'food, or, for the eating'. So when you see, "the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat", you can read it as, 'to you it shall be for your food'.

We generally take Genesis 9:3 as the Scripture that authorizes man to start eating meat (as in the flesh of animals). This God spoke about to Noah after the Ark had landed on dry ground after the flood. However, there could have been meat eating before this time, but this verse gives us a point to work from.
