Matthew 7:12 is just like its an eye for a eye and a tooth for a tooth. First Jesus Christ himself wants our weapons then teaches us how exactly to be righteous person then returns our weapons. To much forgiveness leads us directly into wrongful persecution and makes us easy to attack. We must have a certain amount of justice and be humble enough but not allow the enemy to much injustice because they take advantage over us and they will not physically learn nothing but they can have their ways easy and we will all suffer wrongful persecution which I will never allow myself willing into slavery or anything wrongful persecution I will suffer persecution for love and righteousness but never allow myself willing into wrongful persecution for no God ever.
12 Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.
is a restatement and probable expansion of our obligations under the second great commandment, Matthew 22:36-40 says:
36 Master, which is the great commandment in the law? 37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. 40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.
The end of verse Mt 7:12 and Mt 22:40 are basically identical.
Jesus never made any statement like that when he referred to Leviticus 24:20, which in its full context in Leviticus 24:17-22 reads:
17 And he that killeth any man shall surely be put to death. 18 And he that killeth a beast shall make it good; beast for beast. 19 And if a man cause a blemish in his neighbour; as he hath done, so shall it be done to him; 20 Breach for breach, eye for eye, tooth for tooth: as he hath caused a blemish in a man, so shall it be done to him again. 21 And he that killeth a beast, he shall restore it: and he that killeth a man, he shall be put to death. 22 Ye shall have one manner of law, as well for the stranger, as for one of your own country: for I am the LORD your God.
This law was never given under the Law as the basis for vigilante vengence where individuals take matters into their own hands, but always fell on the entire covenant community under the Law to bring before judges that called for witness testimony before any sentences were passed or carried out. Also, any sentence that were be carried out as a result of this law against any stranger must equally be carried out on any member of the covenant community for the same offense to uphold the name of the LORD our God. So, take great care and don't apply it lightly.
Then u have not submitted fully to God's Will for u . When we say : Thy Will be done , we have to mean it . Jesus was sinless . The Jewish leaders had no cause to kill him but they bent and twisted their law in order to kill him . Jesus didn't have to let them do that . He had power on earth to do anything that he wanted to do . He chose to submit to his Father's Will .That's what we as Christians r also supposed to do . It's not always easy for sure . But it's what we r called to .
Christians can make good policemen because they understand that justice must sometimes be upheld with deadly force but they do not take pleasure in using deadly force. I speak generally because I know not all Christians understand this.
