A closer reading of the text showed that the "dung" was to be used to cook v12 the bread not as part of the mix or receipe v9. In v12 the LORD told Ezekiel to use dung "...that cometh out of a man..." Ezekiel protested unto the LORD, that he never ate any food defiled or polluted since his youth. v14 The LORD told Ezekiel to use the cow's dung. v15. The LORD knows HIS own dietary rules for Israel. It was to show the poverty and humiliation brought about by unrepented sin.

Usually during a prolonged siege, the live stock would have been eaten and there fore no more burning fuel. The picture the LORD was trying to show was the total desolation, poverty and humiliation that their sinful ways had brought about. Restrained and helpless before God and His coming judgment.

Praying for the saints that we rise up and stand in the GAP for lost, and carnal believers; we make up the hedge for our country and our leaders.

    David,

Ezekiel should have asked God to use herb. The Israelites used hallucinogens during ceremonies. Most all theologians will confirm this ritual. Perhaps mushrooms were growing in the cow dung...

The ancients did a lot of strange things. Before battle, a king would kill a calf, cut it open, and "look in the liver". If it was healthy, he would win the battle. Ezekiel 21:21

The OT is so underrated, and under read; glad to see you're talking about it so well.

Thank you Roman for your kind words. However, any thing I have that is wise and good to hear is not mine to claim, but from the LORD JESUS CHRIST Himself. Glory and honor goes to the LORD at all times.

It's always good to hear other view points on any subject matter as it pertains to Scripture. May we continue to seek God's glory and praise at all times. Any thing with hallucinogens in it would have compounded the already existing problem of sin. Ezekiel knew what was at stake and would have taken the proper steps to remain "kosher" in his preparation of the bread. Chp 4: 14-17

Have a good day Roman, may the LORD shine His face on you and yours.
