Are the sins of believers and unbelievers equally offensive to God? The question may be slightly off-kilter. There are two main types of sin and those are 1. sins of ignorance, and 2. presumptuous sins. Jesus made a distinction between the two in Mark 3:
28 Verily I say unto you, All sins shall be forgiven unto the sons of men, and blasphemies wherewith soever they shall blaspheme:
29 But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost hath never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation.
Without going into a lengthy discussion of the distinctions between the two types of sin (there are two types of blasphemy, for example), we should recognize from Mark 3 that most sins will be forgiven but one sin will never be forgiven.
All sins whether they are of ignorance or not (had the son in the parable of the prodigal son ignorance of what he was doing or not? Of course he knew what he was doing and still kept going. Still father accepted him back) are forgiven if one repents.. Blasphemy against the Holly Spirit is not because one who does that will never repent.
There will also be a sin in the time of antichrist that will not be forgiven. Acception of the mark 666.
