1 Corinthians 12 is a chapter that gives examples of Spiritual gifts. Since they are spiritual and God given we didn't have them before we became believers. God seems to reveal our gifts to others more than to ourselves to keep us from being lifted up in pride. When we need encouragement he will have others tell us and sometimes it surprises us the people he uses to do it. A hinderance to us not using gifts, talents etc. is our perception of how they compare to other believers abilities. My dad had a quote "It is not your ability, but your availability". When Jesus delivered the ten pounds he simply said "occupy till I come". Take time for God and others and you will have a fruitful life.
Hello Bridgette, I've liked that name since I was a child & I had a friend named that.
Looks like you said the "gift of worrier" I've had Southern family that would say that. It's probably also called something like "gift of burden " in some churches, sometimes like a discernment that something isn't right, & prayer, intervention is needed. Romans 11:29, 1Corinthians 12, & 13, it seems more like the prophetic gift, to me. You've had great answers about warrior.
But we are not to worry, Philippians 4:6-7,
We are also given talents & things we all can do individually that we ourselves can do well, others aren't necessarily as well at. Those also are giftings of GOD. I don't think we usually know clearly all our giftings but sometimes people see those easier because the things that's 'easy' for you, isn't 'easy' for them. Philippians 1:6,
Here's an earlier reply from Brother Jesse to a question similar to yours.
Brother Jesse, I hope you don't mind me sharing this.
According to the Bible, the only gift that is given to a believer is the gift of the Holy Spirit. There is scripture that talks about the "gifts of the Spirit," but the word gift is not the word that means a gift that is given.
If the Lord leads you to do so, I would encourage you to do a study in the New Testament on the word gift or gifts and you will see that the word gift or gifts is either in italics, meaning it is not found in the original Greek text, or it is the word CHARIS which means grace. It has nothing to do with a gift that is given to us.
This is where we get the word CHARISMA from which means an expression of God's grace.
The word DIDOMI in the Greek language is another word used for gift and it literally means a gift that is given. Again, if you do an honest study on every place in the NT where the word gift or gifts is used, you are only going to find one place where the word is used and it actually means a gift that is given. It is the gift of the Holy Spirit. That is the only gift that we are given. Every other place you find the word gift or gifts it is going to be the word CHARIS or CHARISMA which is an expression of God's grace, not a gift that's given to us.
We are only given one gift and it is the gift of the Holy Spirit.
Thank you dear "S Spencer", for cleaning up the soup this was :) But we can hope that the Spirit of truth gives us revelations in time.
Here I must repent and ask for mercy. Since it is of course just a gift! But in the spirit we can have more services. According to what the Spirit gives each one. As God wills.
I think i was driven away from the Gift of the Holy Ghost when i shared the Mission Commandment that Jesus says in
Matthew 22:16 18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
I believe we are given the Holyspirit is given to every believer.
What ever we do for the Lord it is he that does it through us.
Philippians 2:13.
But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.
1 Corinthians 12:11.
This goes for spiritual fruit as well as spiritual gifts.
When we are born again we are a empty vessel and have nothing to offer. All our fleshly talents is insignificant.
It seems in the scripture we are confirmed by our fruit, "Not our gifts." Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.
Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?
Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.
A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.
Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.
WHEREFORE BY THEIR FRUITS YE SHALL KNOW THEM. Matthew 7:15-20.
Also:
Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.
I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: FOR WITHOUT ME YE CAN DO NOTHING.
If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.
If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.
Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples. John 15:4-8.
I feel the same as you. Don't seek after a particular "gift", but seek the Lord and desire to be used of Him in whatever way the Spirit leads me to do, say, or refrain from doing or saying. We walk by the Spirit of God who lives in us, to do all for the glory of God and benefit to our fellow men and women. We take care of ourselves in order that we can be ready and fit for service.
No offence meant but please have a look in 1 Corinthians 12:31, also chapter 14 especially 1 Corinthians 14:1.
If we dont seek and get specific spiritual gifts how is the Spirit of God going to work in a christian congregation? Chapter 14 is an example of the usufulness of spiritual gifts in a church. Of course the Holly Spirit at the end will give us what is fit for us but still we must seek the best gifts since you dont know what is proper for us. My hope is to be like the ancient church described in the Acts.
Hi Giannis. I think that as we walk with the Spirit, the way He chooses to empower, gift, and manifest in and through us becomes apparent either to us or others who 'name' it for us. Over the years, I have experienced the Spirit work through me in such a variety of 'gifts' I cannot say that I have just one or two or three 'gifts'. What I know that I do have is a willing and submitted spirit to God and His work in and through me.
The greek word CHARIS which is often translated in Engklish as Grace means gift. The word CHARISMA (plural CHARISMATA) means gift. DIDo not DIDOMI is a verb, it means I GIVE. DORO (plural DORA) another word in the greek text means PRESENT.
When in greek we say that we get saved by God's grace we mean that salvation is a gift/present, not a wage for good works. When we say that God's grace sustains us we mean that God give us His power to keep going though difficult situations in life. When we say that a person has grace (charis) we mean that that person has a gifted talent since birth, believers say from God, atheists say from nature.
Of course we find the word GIFT in the greek prototype, hundred of times i.e. Now there are diversities of gifts (CHARISMATA), but the same Spirit. (1 Corinhtians 12:4) and so on.
So salvation is a gift from GOD. That is completely different from the gifts that the Holy Spirit gives to God's children for use in church's service See 1 Corinthians 12:1-13. Those gifts (spiritual not natural) work or SHOULD work in church. There is also a difference between Spirit's gifts and Spirit's fruit which is mentioned in Galatians 5:22-23. Those are also gifts but they are something different from the gifts mentioned in 1 Corinthians 12:1-13.
The Word of God is simple. I wouldn't suggest that we all learn Greek or Hebrew to study the Bible. Just take as it is.
I don't intend to insult you but some things must put in order
I read your reply to me through my email. I don't understand the issue.
But why didn't you send a reply to the poste?
You said this is a free lesson on Greek,
But then you said there is no need in studying Greek, just leave it as it is.
I barely know English, certainly not Greek!
I posted a friend's material but I'm not sure you and I are on the same page.
And I'm not sure you mean to be peaceful being that you didn't apply your knowledge to the person that poised the question so I pass on this conversation.
Dear Spencer I didn't mean to offend you, i am sorry, i must admit the way i wrote was not that nice. I didnt send anything to your e mail, i just posted my answer. Once more i am sorry to made you sad. God bless you.
I am sorry my dear sister but I do not think that there is a warrior gift given from God. What made you think that? Where in the Gospel do we find that gift?
The spiritual gifts that the Spirit of God gives to his children are all described in 1 Corinthians 12:4-11.
Finally gifts are given for service in church not for individual use, that is for my own use.
Now if you mean a natural gift that everybody has and serve the church then it is you who knows it.
Now how do we know which Spiritual gifts we have i also think you know better. It is usually the one that suits you are gre good at it, God will never give you a gift that you can not hold.
Dear "Giannis", Too bad you have not experienced a prayer life. Revelation 21:4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
Ephesians 6:10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
John 16:5-15
Why was / is the Holy Spirit necessary for God's People?
And much more. How would you explain the text above?
Be blessed dear ones, remember that Jesus loves you and i love u in Christ.
Dear Free I do not understand what you mean. If you mean that the armour of God is. a gift from God, yes i agree, but the armour of God is for ALL christians not for some. Generally speaking virtually everything in the world a gift from God. But when we talk about spiritual gifts we usually mean the ones described in 1 Corinthians 12. Those are gifts that work within the congregation of the church members. Of course there are other gifts, natural talents, which we can use to serve our brothers and sisters.
The Holly Spirit does many functions. One of them is to give you His fruit. And as i know it, this happens when one is baptised in the Spirit and then is filled with the Spirit while praying That fruit love, joy, peace ... described in Galatians 5: 22-23 is not a fruit we aquire due our effords to be like that but is something that is given from God's Spirit. Well as i am not sure we are talking about the same thing I won't go any further. God bless you.

A warrior in Christ is one who enters into "boot camp" first. Learn being a soldier from King David, Joshua and Gideon.
Your Armor in Ephesians 6.
Intercessory prayer. Find one in your church, or form one. Intercessors are the most courageous: fighting off the beings that oppose Jesus. Our prayers can tear down strongholds; open the skies so prayers cannot be silenced. silence lying spirits that say you cannot do this.
Prayer Warriors:
Stand in the Gaps
Repair torn down hedges
Sit in the Watch Tower, looking for enemies
Listen to the Holy Spirits counsel: ask Him for the gift of discerning of spirits ( human, evil, or of Heaven)
Our enemies are not flesh and blood. They're invisible and sometimes inside of a consenting human, animal or creatures. The Holy Spirit will alert us what spirit is opposing us.
Pray Harder: call it out, use its identity if the Holy Spirit reveals it. Bind and Loose as Jesus taught us. Ask God to send angels when extra protection is needed.
A testimony: I've been immobilized by demonic things. Had my mouth shut so I couldn't yell for Jesus. All of heaven can hear your SPIRIT screaming THE BLOOD OF JESUS. You will be released immediately. Don't panic. Plead the Blood. [Get anything no matter what_ the Holy Spirit says is cursed, Acts 19:19, destroyed.]
There are passages in the Old Testament that describe war and battles: lapping water, running low, digging trenches: which can be used in war prayers. Watch that movie, the War Room. That woman had the devils on the run. Those are our enemies. We have to be alert to their "fruits." Like anger, violence, threatening fears (they're buddies Torments) Mishaps in the house: hindering and harassment devils.
You might watch a FEW videos by Derek Prince. Devils exist but Jesus gave us everything we need to defeat them: SCRIPTURE. Spend time in Gods presence, soaking up Bible in massive amounts. No speed reading.
Dear "Bridgette Bradley", know that a Warrior is the strongest, the one who attacks and defends. The one who goes out first to meet the enemy. That's a big thing. To become this warrior, you must fill yourself with the Scriptures every day. Watch and pray in time and out of time. Be patient and strong because you do not get the prayer answers the way you want. You can often see the answers from a distance. And then the thanksgiving becomes great.
Joshua and Paul's letters have strategic war plans and are important in this gift. Be happy with what you have received, this is a very important gift. In the warrior task, almost all gifts lie latent. Try next time and use them when you go to church meetings. What can be difficult is to get a chance to speak. Pray that the Lord will make an opening for you. Keep praying for the people around you. Then of course in silent prayer. If you have been given another language, pray incessantly in that language. Good luck there is a gift that will build you up a lot. The Lord Jesus has not and will never leave you, look here!
Matthew 28:18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

Well said.
No one can be a believer unless the Holy Spirit resides within this person accomplishing all of
working out our salvation in us. He regenerates us, making us alive to God. He causes faith to take root in us, making it possible
for us to believe the gospel of Jesus. He gives us the assurance of salvation and the awareness in a believer that they are now a
child of God. He fills every believer with the grace of His constant Presence, influence, and power over sin. He enables us to
serve God in the unique way that He fits us into the body of Christ in ways that build up the body and glorifies our Lord.
I do not distinguish a believer who emphasized they have been "baptized in the Holy Spirit" from one believes they received the
gift of the Holy Spirit at conversion and this Spirit works within them to accomplish God's will.
To me, a believer is a believer is. One is not different from the other, or better, or more blessed, or more filled, or more
empowered, etc. than another. My hope and prayer is that within the body, we all esteem one another equally and love each
other deeply, and support each other as brethren, and glorify God together as saints.
I always appreciate you.
Very well stated.
I never never looked for a gift, I just pray for the Lord to gift me with the ability to please him.
And help me in my many shortcomings.
God bless you.
