Why did Jesus never use chapter and verses in his quoting of bible passages ? It obviously was not needed . The Jews knew the law or at least should have .
Is chapter and verses used in modern bibles an attempt to brake down the word of God by making it harder for the Spirit to flow in thought ?It Could be . When men are involved often it is not for the better .
I do like chapter and verses for finding where it is written , saves time that way . But the Spirit of God does not need them to form thoughts .
We are told that in revelation not to rehearse what we will say , the Spirit will give us the words .
Chapters and verses were added hundreds of years after Christ spake those Words. The same could be said for any part of the Bible. If you look at the preaching of the Apostle Paul, it's easy to tell where the writer paused (which later became a break to insert chapter). The first time this was ever introduced in both Old and New Testaments in a Bible was with the Geneva Bible in 1560.
Now, we'd have to be grateful the chapters and verses were added though. If not, it would be harder to give you direct answer on Salvation by saying read Romans chapter 10 verses 9-13. Without the chapters in verses...I could probably tell you to search for "those words" in Paul's letter to the Romans. God's Word would still make it's way into believers lives even if we'd never been given Bibles with verses and chapters but looking at it today; you'd be putting a lot of notes and bookmarks in...that's for sure.
