I'm a Christian I have been I've truly loved getting to read the Bible more and more each day I've regarded not reading the Bible sooner so my question is....is the king james version the one ture Bible to read to get to know the word of God and Jesus..and if so will I go to hell if I don't read all of the Bible I mean I'm trying to read more and more each day I'll I be left behind if Jesus comes back before I get a chance to read it all I need someone's perspective on this question from a Christian believer I just wanted to know
Hello April. Just to add to Daniel's very good advice he's given you; what you're wanting to do in reading through the Bible in a year is very commendable. You can get guidance from the Web, if you search for 'Reading the Bible in a year', & it will give you a systematic reading program, sometimes reading a couple of Old Testament chapters & one New Testament chapter per day. Though this might be a good way of reading as much of the Scriptures as you can, you need to keep in mind that there is no 'saving' merit before God in having accomplished such a great task. What is important is that you understand what you are reading (i.e. not necessarily from an in-depth study), but you allow God's Spirit to guide you & help you apply the Truths you learn, in your life. Bible reading is a discipline, & when you truly desire to learn more about God, His Son & Holy Spirit, and Christian living, even absorbing the Word in smaller chunks will be very useful to you. A good Study Bible, with its cross-references & footnotes, can also be very useful. There are many good ones out there; I use the Ryrie Study Bible (in KJV).
And as Daniel has written, no one will go to hell for not reading the Bible right through. People only go to hell if they refuse the offer of salvation that God has given to us, through His beloved Son. Some might want to get to Heaven their own way (by following various religions or philosophies, doing good works, self-harming, etc.), but the only way possible is to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ to be saved ( Acts 15:11; Acts 16:31; Romans 10:9). When we believe & are born again by God's Spirit, His Spirit indwells in us, seals us as belonging to God ( Ephesians 1:3-14), & ministers special Grace & Wisdom to us to live this new life. So, when Jesus comes for His own or we go through the portals of death, all who have His Spirit in them, who are marked as belonging to God, will be taken to be with Him - that is His Promise & Guarantee. Blessings.
There's only one requirement to Salvation and to Heaven when we die (although among other things -- modern false theologians will tell you there's no heaven after death...don't listen to them). That requirement in Ephesians 2: 8-10, Romans 10:9-13, John 3:15-21 are the those to us who've received the Grace of God by simple Faith in Him (Christ Jesus) & His finished work.
After you're saved, challenge yourself where you want to start reading. Ideally, it would be nice for every born again believer to read the entire Holy Bible from Genesis 1 to Revelation 22; but not all get there. Some had died before finishing the Bible but their Salvation is eternal and they're with the Lord now. You know, when I first got saved...one of the first books I read was the book of Job. Start somewhere and challenge how much you can read and comprehend at one time. I typically read verse by verse slowly to make sure I have a clear understanding. Sometimes I need to read an entire chapter of the Bible twice to make sure I understand completely.
About going to hell (unless I've misunderstood) about going to hell for not reading the whole Bible or the King James Version; that's not true. God would have us to read His entire Word but if a soldier accepts Christ on the battlefield and is critically wounded; they'd die before getting to know more than a single verse. But if that single verse was as of those I listed above; God will welcome him home. Just an example. Try to challenge what you read daily whether it be verses, chapters or an entire book of the Bible. I believe the King James Bible is the only truly inspired Word of God. But if someone is reading the Word of another version; I don't believe they'd go to hell. Although I'll warn that paraphrased Bibles do have a wicked message (The Message Bible); paraphrasing God's Word is sinful. Also careful with what you read from certain books or on the internet. There are more false doctrines on the internet now than there ever has been.
There is much information and studies on this topic I highly recommend.
VERY EYE OPENING
The pre trib rapture is not biblical but widely taught.
Salvation is not about anything you do there is nothing you can do to save yourselfit's about what Jesus did for us. It is the gift of God. John 3:16
If you are interested I can provide some good studies on these topics
