I have been a terrible sinner but I am now absolutely certain in the word of God and the existence of Jesus. I am a paraplegic and double amputee and unfortunately that has made me angry sometimes with God, though it was misplaced and I was angry with myself, I have also been rebellious in the music that I listened to and my entertainment. Anyway I really want to become a good person and have God in my life. I welcome any thoughts and prayers about this conversation, are even the worst sinners able to find redemption?

Dear Joshua , I'm convinced that you are not among the very worst sinners , I also don't think that God wants us to be miserable in this life . There are many ways to find a bit of harmless pleasure in this life , if you don't mind me saying so , your options may be limited by your physicality so please don't be so hard on yourself . I am also a big music and film and books fan and some of the stuff I enjoy might be frowned upon by other Christians , however , they may be able to enjoy themselves in ways that I am unable to or that I wouldn't agree with . I don't gamble , I can't remember the last time I saw the ocean as I don't drive a car . I too am also limited physically , so if I read a book that has a curse word in it or listen to some energetic music or watch a film in which some one gets punched , I'm not going to beat myself up over that . Romans Ch 14 . Much love to you in Christ .

Dear Suze, I appreciate your reply so very much. I have been feeling so guilty for some of my actions and really am so grateful. Unfortunately I used to be a big fan of heavy metal among other things, recently though I have started throwing all of that stuff away and am trying very hard to repent. I have also used alcohol for decades as a well to cope and self medicate, thanks to God though tomorrow I will have three weeks of abstinence from it. I have also had sex outside of marriage and been idolatrous. I used to be agnostic (although I have never really been an atheist) and even thought I was basically a moral person. I am really trying to change and have been praying a lot and reading the Bible, the overwhelming truth is undeniable though I wish I had seen this much sooner. Thanks again for your reply, I really think that it's God's way of comforting me.

Dear Joshua , I've just had a thought about music , whoever's music you listen to , you are listening to the music of a sinner , it doesn't matter who they are they are sinners just like all humans . Only Christ was sinless . As long as the lyrics are ok , not glorifying violence or sexual or blasphemous , I don't have a problem . If we didn't partake of things because the people who made those things are sinners , well , we wouldn't be able to do anything . Just be a bit discerning that's all . Enjoy .

Oh Joshua , I love a bit of metal , smiley face . I still enjoy it but I'm careful about who I listen to , there's still plenty of rock that you can listen to if you be a bit choosey . I believe that all talents , such as musical ability and singing etc are God given , it's up to the person how they use their talents and plenty use them in an acceptable way . If you dig deep you might find that many musicians are Christians but don't shout about it . Please remember that even Christians are just human beings at the end of the day . None of us can be perfect in this life and there is still plenty that we can enjoy as long as we are a bit discerning . I find life in these awful Kingdoms of men quite sad and distressing a lot of the time and we all have our ways of relaxing and cheering ourselves up , we all need to find ways of chilling out , don't be too hard on yourself for listening to some music or watching a film and don't allow others to make you feel guilty for enjoying yourself . I don't have a car , I haven't been out of my own town for twenty years , no beach no countryside nothing . I read books watch films and dance in my living room , smiley face . It's my way of getting through this life . Enjoy your life as best you can . Very many congratulations on your sobriety which I think is more of a health matter than a moral one . Well done you , we rock ! May God bless you in all the ways that He know that you need His blessings most . Much love in Christ .

Thank you so much Suze, there are definitely Christian heavy metal bands though of course not very many. I was given a lot of vinyl a decade or more ago which has a lot of orchestral music so I am going to comb through those as well. Part of the reason why I lost my legs was because of my addiction to alcohol and I can't really feel much in my lower limbs. Anyway I appreciate your kindness so much.

I'm so sorry to hear that , I have lost family and friends through alcohol related illness so I'm very glad that u r still alive . God has soared your life Joshua , maybe He has a plan for you ? Or maybe He just loves you so much and knew that you would come back to Him ? There are lots of possibilities for you , in this world and the next , take heart and rejoice in God love and mercy and blessings towards you . All the time you thought that you weren't in touch with Him ? He never left your side and it's Him and Him only that has brought you safely to this very moment . May God continue to bless you and keep you very close to Himself . Much love in Christ .
