Actual events not some parable: Job was the 3rd son Issachar ( Genesis 46:13) he would of gone down to Egypt with his father. Issachar was 40 at "the going down to Egypt" Job would have been about 20 at that time (1706 bc). We are told he lived 140 years after his double blessing 42:10. If the double blessing included length of years then his age would have been 70 + 140 = 210 (3 70's of years). His lifetime would be 1726 to1516 BC. According to this, he was born the year after Joseph was sold, and died 119 years after the death of Joseph (in 1635 BC). When Joseph died, Job was 91. If his double blessing did include length of years (little doubt that they did) then his affliction took place 21 years previously, when he was 70. When Job died (1516) Moses was 55 and had been in Midian 15 years, 25 years before the Exodus. This would account for Job being a worshiper of GOD of Abraham, and explains how Moses could have been the author of the book, and perhaps an eye and ear witness of the events it records in Midian. Time of afflictions was very quick and happened in days. The assault began Gen. 2:7 (1656 BC). The so called 3 friends were descendants of Esau; therefore contemporaries. They spoke for 40 chapters before GOD had enough and told Job to get up and quit listening to them. They accused Job of being a sinner when Job knew he did not.
Satan allowed to test Job was on earth de-facto meaning Satan was allowed to be here in his super natural state. Satan came to and fro from earth to heaven until CHRIST ordered him to get behind HIM and has been held there by Michael ever sense.
Keep on studying the word, you can't go wrong. test everything with the light of scripture. Everything is not symbolic, that's a heresy!
Some things we run across that have no significance.
Today many will try to lead you away from the faith. Listen to Jesus here: I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth? Luke 18:8.
Also Peter.
2 Peter 2:1. But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.
The scripture doesn't give us a time table of Jobs suffering.
But here James reference him, so the book of Job is not a parable! The story of Job as I'm sure you know was as real as you and I.
James 5:11 (KJV) Behold, we count them happy which endure. Ye have heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the end of the Lord; that the Lord is very pitiful, and of tender mercy.

I never said that Job was not and actual event.
Is not our bible the WORDS of God.
Was not Job a Prophet, Prophesying.
2 Peter 1:21 For the prophecy CAME NOT in the old time by the will of men: but holy men of God spake as they we moved by the Holy Ghost.
Job 27:1 And Job continued HIS PARABLE, and said
Job 13:27 ...thou settest a print on the heels of my feet.
Job was PROPHESYING by a PARABLE about Christ.
Most of Psalms, is David, a Prophet, prophesying about Christ.
You see the same thing described by both Prophets.
God Bless YOU!

Why do you think there is so many opinions:
Because MAN want believe God's WORD.
Job 27:1 And Job continued his PARABLE, and said.
Was Job crucified on the Cross:
Job 13:27 ...thou settest a print upon the heels of my feet
James 15:11 .... ye have heard of the patience of Job (Jesus) ......
Revelation 1:9 ......and in the kingdom and patience of Jesus Christ ......
PROPHECY
Psalms 49:4 I (Christ) will open my mouth in a PARABLE .....
Ezekiel 17:2 Son of man, put forth a RIDDLE, and speak a PARABLE .....
Ezekiel 24:3 And utter a PARABLE ....
PROPHECY FULFILLED
Matthew And these thing Jesus spake to the multitudes in PARABLES, and WITHOUT a PARABLE he SPAKE NOT TO THEM.
Christ is speaking TODAY to the MULTITUDES though HIS WORDS, and THOSE WORDS ARE A PARABLE.
You will never understand God's WORD until he causes you to believe his word's are a PARABLE.
Everything from Genesis to Revelation is a PARABLE about the KINGDOM OF GOD.
God Bless YOU!

James 5:11 (KJV) Behold, we count them happy which endure. Ye have heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the end of the Lord; that the Lord is very pitiful, and of tender mercy.
God bless.
The book of Job is BOTH a PARABLE and a PROPHECY about and of Jesus Christ, as is Psalms.
Job 27:1 Moreover Job continued his PARABLE, and said
Job 29:1 Moreover Job continued his PARABLE, and said
Job 13:27 .....thou settest a print upon the heels of my feet
I guess the answer to you question: how long did Job suffer.
Jesus suffered three and a half years, his ministry in the flesh.
God Bless YOU!
