One of those moments when you read and the KJV and you see something that startles you. BOTH individuals being crucified with Jesus reviled him; meaning the one that was saved, right before he was saved, actually called Jesus out in a derogatory manner? Mark 15:32. Am I missing something? All along I thought it was only the thief on the left?
  • Luke - In Reply - 2 years ago
The short answer the one thief went directly to Hell after death. And the one that said. Lord remember me when thou comest into thy Kingdom, died saved and went to Abraham's bosom which was called paradise at that time. No one goes to heaven before Christ died on the cross, it wasn't available cause Christ had not yet shed his blood to pay for the sin of mankind... At that time Hell and Paradise.Abraham's bosom were in the heart of the earth. Now Heaven is available to the saved, and Hell for the unsaved.

Although the main focus is on Jesus and two crucified criminals it does not rule out the probability of other crucifixions being carried out in the same place at the same time.

    Susan:

Don't be deceived, there is no spiritual death, Spirit CANNOT DIE, only the body can die.

God is no respector of persons.

When you; the body, die the first death, you are instantly in the presence of God, the likeness of Christ, because Christ is IMMORTAL LIFE.

Revelation 20:6 Blessed and Holy is he who hath part in the first resurrection, on such the second death hath no power....

    What is this second death?

At some point in time, all in the grave, who have already died ONCE, will be resurrected back to their flesh, and when they have received the gospel, their bodies will die the second (time) death, and they two will be ONE IN CHRIST, IMMORTAL LIFE.

    God Bless YOU!

You: "there is no spiritual death, Spirit CANNOT DIE"

God: "...and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death." Rev 21:8

If I might add something about the first and second resurrections, the first resurrection is for those who are saved. This resurrection takes place when Christ comes for His church. The dead (in Christ) will rise first (resurrected), and then we (believers) which are alive and remain with be caught up to meet the Lord in the air.

The second resurrection takes place after the 1,000 reign of Christ. That resurrection will be for all those who rejected Christ. There will be no hope of salvation for those in the second resurrection ( Revelation 20:5-6).

There are two deaths. There's physical death, and there's spiritual death. There's an old saying that says that a believer is somebody who has been born twice but dies once. You're physically born, and you're spiritually born. And when you physically die, that will be the only death you will experience because you'll be with Christ forever.

The non-believer is somebody who is born once, but dies twice. They die in death here, and then they are resurrected and put in the lake of fire for the second death. The second death is eternal separation from Christ in the lake of fire.

    Susan,

Mark 15:32 says that these two thieves were insulting Him. That is true. But we know from the other accounts that one of these thieves afterward turned and received Christ as Messiah. Jesus said today you shall be with me in Paradise. Until a person takes their last breath, they still have the opportunity to confess who Christ is and receive Him. This is exactly what one of them did.

    Susan:

We are the two thieves on the cross.

One saved in the first resurrection.

The other to be saved in the second resurrection.

It's the work of that death on the cross, that CAUSES this reviling to TURN into confession unto salvation.

Today you shall be with me in paradise (the presence of God).

Colossians 1:27 ....this mystery .....CHRIST IN YOU ......

    God Bless YOU!
