It says to honor your Mother and Father, My earthly didn't have anything to do with me, ( NOTHING ). he has since passed away, should I honor even if we didn't have any kind of relationship?

Like on holiday's, should I put flower's on his grave?, I loved my Father, and wanted to spend time with him, but he didn't have anytime for me. I wish it could have been different.

@David Morgan - I wanted to add something to this- You can be'in this world and not of it or of this world and not in it'. The former has God as their father, the latter has their human father. Which do you want to be? Be like Jesus, and God is your father- and he has always been there for you.

Children are difficult- you can't hold their hand. You have to let them do on their own, sometimes hinting at a reward. This is the way of God- he wants you to do what makes him happy because it is in your long-term best-interest to do so- and doing so yields great rewards.

@David Morgan - Yes, honor your father and your mother. This doesn't mean you need to leave flower or anything like that. It means that while they were not necessarily there for you, they still gave you life. If you feel wronged by them, forgive them. How can God forgive you, if you do not forgive them?

God wants one things from you- be like Jesus. In every way that you can be. Love god with every erg of your being. Your parents gave you life, from God, but they don't define the man you are. You do that. Be like Jesus, and I promise you, it will be worth it.

David , I'm in the same position as you , I don't think you have to continually tend a grave , but if it helps you then that's fine . I honour my deceased loved ones by remembering them in the best possible light , any happy memories ? Does anyone who knew your dad have anything nice to tell you about him ? If so focus on that , also remember that God puts people in our lives for a reason and maybe the opposite is also true ? Maybe He removes them from us for a reason too . Thank God for all the love and kindness you have ever received from anyone , all good things come from God and some times we don't recognise what the good things are but God is always in our lives working for good for us , we just don't always know about it . God loves you more than any human ever could , never forget that and trust in Him implicitly .

The Spirit of Adoption has been by your side throughout your life.

    Psalms 27:10

When my father and my mother forsake me, then the LORD will take me up.

    Proverbs 6:20

My son, keep thy father's commandment, and forsake not the law of thy mother:

    Proverbs 1:8

My son, hear the instruction of thy father, and forsake not the law of thy mother:

Jesus spoke to John and his mother, from the Cross: behold your mother.

What I perceive, is that at no time in your life were you without a Fathers love. You were adopted. And now you are Gods child through the Salvation of Jesus__which is eternal.

(I think you might get some relief by watching a movie some people don't care for, because the actors have played other movie roles that were evil.)

THE SHACK. In the scene inside the cave, he meets Wisdom. The the truth we suffer between judging and forgiveness is a wide canyon.

I hope like me, you find relief from memories that fight to stay alive. I gave that movie to my brother.

Someone once told me, "that God brings us to Himself, the easiest way we will come." He wants to heal our soul.

    Peace be with you, Mishael.

There seems to be a bit of confusion here. It is ONLY for those who have heard the gospel, believed on Jesus and have been born from above ( John 3:16) that then receive the 'Spirit of adoption" by which they cry "Abba Father". Jesus told the Jewish rulers that they were of their father, the devil, for they rejected Christ! Only those who are in Christ can rightfully call God their 'Father', for they are born of His Spirit in Christ Jesus! Jesus is not the 'Father' of every person on earth, though He be their Maker after the flesh.

As for honoring our natural parents, whether they are 'good' parents or not - yes; we are to honor them and show them respect while they are alive. The Bible does not say, "Honor thy good mother" or 'thy good father'. We are to honor them as far as we can.

There is no point laying flowers on a grave and bring 'sacrifices for the dead.' We must honor them while they are yet alive, when we can possibly do them good and be a blessing to them.

I have heard of unsaved parents (and other family members) being won over by the godly behavior of those of us who are saved.

    Blessings....
