    we was told that only Mary ws highly favoured and not man Is this true ?

    That's correct, Bobbie. Luke 1:28 says, "And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women."

    Mary was highly favoured among women as the one selected by God to bear Jesus Christ Who would become the Son of God ( Luke 1:32). This compliment wasn't given to Joseph, Mary's husband, though he too was specially selected to be Jesus' guardian - but Jesus' miraculous birth (Divinity coming into humanity) required a special woman (a young girl actually) to bring this Holy One into the World.
