    From Verse 31;

And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.

What is the four (4) Winds Christ was talking about?
  • Luke - In Reply on Matthew 24 - 2 years ago
Anytime the four winds are mentioned in the Bible it is referring to "The Great Tribulation" The Time of Jacobs Trouble.

Revelation 7:1 And after these things I saw four angels standing on the four corners of the earth, holding the four winds of the earth, that the wind should not blow on the earth, nor on the sea, nor on any tree.

Matthew is prophesying how God Gathers His Elect (together) out of the great tribulation for the sign of the 2nd coming is near Christ is near.

Then we are told to learn the parable of the fig tree in v32

Now learn the parable of the fig tree; When its branch shall have become already tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye get to know that summer is nigh: (Christ's return is near)

God uses the life cycle of the fig tree to give us an indication of when to expect the coming of the 2nd advent.

Hey Mark GBU... Lemme give ya my understanding on the 4 winds its simply all the world....North South East AND WEST....Jesus said the Wind is symbolic of his spirit his words that cannot be seen but only heard...

...... Joel 2:28 I will pour out of my SPIRIT ( the wind of God ) on all flesh....And your sons and daughters shall prophesy....All flesh is all the world North South East and West....And his spirit is the wind of God to all parts of the world

......On the day of Pentacost that mighty rushing wind was blowing on folks from every nation all the world which was the H.G.....Which was the Promise of his Father....Baptism of the H.G....Behold the Promise of my Father...which was that mighty rushing WIND that filled the house...He makes his son to shine to the good and the bad...and his rain to fall on all the world.

And the 4 gospels are filled with the Blood of the lamb the Cross and his words and he says my words are spirit and life....The wind of God which is the H.G. GODS ELECT.

......And he breathe on them and they received the H.G. His breath was the wind of God....Just as God breathe the breath of life in humanity.

......We were all born by the will of some man.... its only the H.G. that Child of Promise that is born by the will of God in us....Thus its only the H.G. that is the Child of PROMISE THE ELECT.....Which is our new heart and new spirit the mind of Christ.. Romans 9 :8-17 kjv

    Jeremiah 49:36

And upon Elam will I bring the four winds from the four quarters of heaven, and will scatter them toward all those winds; and there shall be no nation whither the outcasts of Elam shall not come.

    Revelation 7:1

And after these things I saw four angels standing on the four corners of the earth, holding the four winds of the earth, that the wind should not blow on the earth, nor on the sea, nor on any tree.

    Zechariah 2:6

Ho, ho, come forth, and flee from the land of the north, saith the LORD: for I have spread you abroad as the four winds of the heaven, saith the LORD.

    Matthew 24:31

And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.

    Mark 13:27

And then shall he send his angels, and shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from the uttermost part of the earth to the uttermost part of heaven.

In Job 1 we see that Satan can cause destructive winds that kill people, animals and communities.

Also that God owns the storehouses of Rain, Snow and Hail.

The bible uses the four winds to represent the totality of the wind (created in Gen. 3) from the four corners of the firmament of heaven above the earth. It was written by the Lord's prophets in this manner because at the time of the book's writing everyone still viewed the Earth as flat, and therefore would not yet comprehend the wind as being the result of a spinning globe and the shifting weather conditions caused by varying exposure to the sun constantly. The scripture was written this way so our understanding of the Word remained logical and infallible, even as our knowledge and understanding of science grew. What a glorious book the Bible is, the more you immerse yourself in it; the more wonderful it becomes as you notice all the tiny details that have made it an enduring book of hope and joy for all generations.

    Mark,

Matthew 24:31 tells us that when He does come, He shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet.

I'll share some technical points with you just to show you how good this passage is:

He is going to send His angels out with a great sound of a Shofar. It's a ram's horn.

In the Greek text, the word "sound" is in brackets, which means it has been added to the text by some unseen person who doesn't understand the fact that the word "great" modifies the trumpet. It is called a great Shofar.

The prophecy is found in Isaiah 27:12-13.

It says the great Shofar will blow, and the Lord will gather His people from the four corners of the earth. So that is very important because that's a prophecy that the Jews looked for.

It says He is going to gather them together, his elect, and that would be the Jews, from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other, north, south, east, and west.

    Matthew 24,

North, South East & West, examples: Ezekiel 37:9, Revelation 7:1, Job 37:9,

    East Wind; Genesis 41:6,23,27, Exodus 10:13, Exodus 14:21, Psalms 48:7, Isaiah 27:8, Jeremiah 18:17, Ezekiel 17:10, Ezekiel 19:12, Hosea 13:15,

    West Wind; Exodus 10:19,

    North Wind; Proverbs 25:23,

South Wind, Job 37:17, Luke 12:55, Acts 27:13,

    Psalms 78:26, Ecclesiastes 1:6, Jeremiah 10:13, Jeremiah 51:16, Amos 4:13,

Interestingly in Michigan the Northern winds blow, it feels like bitter coldness inside, freezing your nose inside like icicles, even through your clothing layers. In Southern California when the " Santa Ana winds" dry & hot, dusty, both very district & unpleasant. The winds that blow East from the Pacific Ocean even summertime bring cool, unpleasant chills as early evening approaches. Etc. (In some personal observation of distinct winds.)

    Hopefully these are helpful
