1 Peter 1:20. No prophecy that which is foretold or forth old is of any private

Interpretation and yet it's mostly what I read in this biblical commentary. Many

Times stated this is what it means five different interpretations, interesting

To observe from one book from one God that mean't one way.

Hi Peter. 2 Peter 1:20,21, "Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost."

I believe this Scripture points to the fact that prophecy given in the Old Testament did not come from man's Will & determination, but the words were directly from God through those whom God chose to share it. With today's biblical commentaries, or even in preaching or teaching in a Fellowship (or even here on KJBO), it is people's understanding of what a passage of the Bible is speaking of & its application to personal life. This is not, nor should be, a re-inventing of God's Word to suit a person's beliefs, but should be based on what the Word says & then to expound on it, using other Scriptures in support. If we get "five different interpretations", it is how people understand the Word & they share their thoughts. But we can be convinced of what they say, when the Scriptures shared & the Light the Spirit gives, then become Truth to us. We need to be discerning & study from the Word & not simply rely on how persuasive a commentary or argument can be, even from the pulpit. Yes, there can only be a single Truth given by God from the Holy Scriptures, but we don't stand condemned for not understanding it or being uncertain when a comment is given, but are condemned for wilfully mishandling it to suit our own ends.

The Disciples of Jesus usually saw the same event, heard the same words, but wrote it differently. We're human. Sometimes those passages were written a year or so after it was experienced.

That's why the Gospels are called the HARMONY of the GOSPELS. Just because they are not word for word, identical, doesn't mean the Disciples were wrong or not there. After Jesus rose to Heaven, the Disciples immediately began to evangelize. They kept notes on scrolls.

That will make an excellent study for you to search out and share with us here. Check Hebrews 11 too.
