The first five verses are indicative of Christ ascending to heaven after Satan attempted to kill the Messiah. This reflects the prophecy of Mtthew 2:18; as well as the third of the angels that Lucifer drew under his spell in the past in verse 4. There is also an alternative interpretation of the Raptured church being the "manchild." It is true that it is the heritage of the saints to rule and reign with Christ ( Rev. 2:26-28). There are supporting verses to us being Kings and Priests in other places as well. The general statement here can be that some are taken to heaven; others protected on earth of His people (and of course some are martyred). God seems to show favor to the 144,000 in particular here; however and perhaps to the remnant in Petra.
Verse 7-12 show Michael; who is the angel who had contented with Satan previously over the body of Moses (Jude; verse 9). He watches over His people ( Dan. 12:1). He will battle with Satan with each opposing army of angels. Of course; Satan loses and is cast to earth. This gives the victorious statements in verses 10-12. It seems here that the accuser through the whole first half of the Trib. will be accusing us. He won't be able to get in the way of the Lord. Some say this is only for those still alive; but I can't see how that can be said. In any event we ALL will be glad when this event happens.
The rest of the passage gets into God's protection against a "flood" verse 15 (some take it as a band of warriors; but possibly it is a literal flood) which occurs after Satan is cast down. After God protects His own (probably hiding in Petra); Satan goes after the rest of the believers; which will be those in the next chapter taking the mark and going after nonbelievers themselves; most likely or with his minions.
