Where in the scriptures does it explain accountability of both children and handicapped people? Someone has posed a challenge hat a 5 year old Downs Syndrome man can not enter heaven. I know this is not of God. I want to present scripture to prove this false idea.
This is an interesting question. Most people believe that there is an 'age of accountability for children and disabled people who do not have the mental capacity to deeply understand their need for a Savior. But they are still sinful persons and in need of salvation. Thankfully, Jesus' sacrifice on the cross covered the sins of all mankind. The sins of young children and disabled person are already paid for. Should they die before they can understand how to be saved, most people would say that in God's mercy and grace, they will be saved. God is in control of their lives. He knows their limitations and since these are either developmental and/or from some sort of brain damage, He allowed it to be so. He loves these people. Jesus said not to keep the children from coming to Him when He was ministering to crowds and the children pressed forward to be close to Him. He said "Such are the kingdom of God" due to their simple faith. Marl 10:14-15. Here Jesus is saying that the children who came to Him are saved. So, we can be confident that when we share Jesus and His Gospel with a little child or disabled person, He will save them due to the inherent power in the Gospel message ( Romans 1:16).
I think that we should definitely take every opportunity we can to share Jesus with children, disabled persons, mentally ill persons or anyone else who is impaired from fully understanding the way of salvation. There is saving power in the Gospel. The Holy Spirit uses it to create faith within the one who hears it or reads it. We can be assured that He will do so in these young ones and others mentioned.
As to what happens to children or disabled people who do not hear the Gospel, I can't really say for sure as I am not aware of what the Bible says about this. Maybe someone else will have better knowledge about this to share.
I believe you are correctly stating, here are scriptures to back that up: Matthew 18, Matthew 18:2-4, Mark 9:36,37, Mark 10:13-16, Matthew 25:31-46, Luke 9:46-48, Luke 18:17,
Delmarie. God is all love that being true why would God judge a child who
Doesn't grasp or who hadn't been instructed. The same idea applies if someone
Is not of a sound mind so that the can understand God's Word and then how Would
They be held accountable. In the gospels many times Jesus Christ ministered to
Huge Crowds then taught God's Word. So they were healed so they could receive. There is a point in a young person of accountability. The scriptures say bring a child
Up in the word (not exact quote) and when he is old he will not depart from it.
