I have a question. Why did God try to kill Moses?

Hello Mary-Jo. In Exodus 4:18-26 we read of this sad account. Moses had failed in his duty to have his son circumcised on the eighth day, as prescribed by the Law. Moses had two sons: Gershom & Eliezer. It may well be that Eliezer is referred to here & Moses even at this late stage, had not fulfilled the Law. Moses & his Midianitish wife, Zipporah, were travelling with their sons when the Lord met them & desired to afflict Moses with a punishment leading to his death. We're not told why Moses was remiss in this act; maybe because other matters pressed upon his mind or even being in the Midian environment where circumcision was unacceptable, he planned to do it later on; but in this encounter with God's Hand heavily upon him, Zipporah stepped in & performed the circumcision herself thereby sparing Moses' life.
