    Hi Barbara. No, Mary from Magdala wasn't a prostitute. Unfortunately, from various sources, this Mary has been associated with some other women in the NT which has severely distorted the account. I understand that it was Pope Gregory I, who in a sermon, associated Mary of Magdala with Mary of Bethany & the anonymous sinful woman who wept at Jesus' Feet & washed it with her hair. And with the various movies on Jesus' Life, here again this error has been compounded, thus turning Mary of Magdala into something she was not.
