What was the reason for using Holy Ghost, when they did use Holy Spirit ( Luke 11:13)?

I'm aware of German (gast) vs Latin (spiritus). Was the translation committee predominantly Germanic?

Silentknight63 , I think the answer is in the verse itself and in the previous verses . when you see what's going on in them .

If an Evil parent can give good gifts to their children, what are gifts that come from The Father when ask ? and their magnitude thereof .

The translators who were commissioned to translate the manuscripts were not divinely inspired , nor were they modern English , they were of Old English , a different style , they did a great job .

Hello Silentknight63. As I understand it, there were several committees formed within the select group of 60 skilled translators employed for this work. How those individual committees worked on their projects can't be determined, whether collectively or individually. As you pointed out, in Luke 11:13, we read that 'Holy Spirit' was used, but in many other portions of the same Gospel, 'Holy Ghost' is used, so it's hard to determine how & why these terms were expressed differently.

As to the translators themselves, from 'kingjamesbibletranslators dot org', I learn that they were all from England, university educated (Oxford & Cambridge), members/ordained priests of the C of E, & familiar with the ancient languages. Nine of the translators passed away even before the 1611 KJV was published.

So, it seems that maybe the different expressions of the Spirit of God were based on personal preference or specific application which clearly doesn't affect its meaning as the one & same Spirit. Unfortunately, these different expressions of God's Spirit have led to confusion among some readers, particularly those who attribute the word 'ghost' to something more sinister.
