I can see that the tri-partedness of man can be used as an example to explain the Trinity, but mind, soul, and body of man are each parts of the whole, and if one part is missing, the organism cannot live. But with God, He is not made of parts. He is a unified whole without components. Even with the triunity-the Father, Son and Spirit are not each part of God. They are all of God, each of them and as a unity all of them.
Some people do think that each member of the Trinity are 1/3 of God, but his is an error in doctrine. With God, none of the members can be withdrawn from the Being of God. This is an impossibility. But with man, the mind, soul, or body can be separated, but this is deadly to man as an organism (which by definition is made of many component parts). This is not true of God in any way.
Using the analogy of the makeup of man to illustrate the Trinity is not so much incorrect as it is inadequate to describe God in His triunity. AS is using the idea of an egg, or a three leaf clover, or other natural physical things to illustrate the same doctrine.
God is incomprehensible to man, but He can be understood and apprehended by man through what God has revealed about Himself in the Word, the physical universe, and in history. Some things are just very difficult to describe accurately with our language, knowledge, and field of experience.
The idea that anyone can fully explain the trinity of God is absurd .
So also is the idea that the unsaved can even grasp the truth of it .
Or indeed the carnal mind .
Your right I believe in that using an egg water etc as examples is not biblical .
But it is not I who said " He who made the ear can He not hear . Or He who made the eye can He not see?Is is hand short that He cannot save?
Or in another place " Man shall not live by bread alone but by everyWord that proceedeth from the mouth of God .
This subject of the Godhead is treading in that most Holy place .I'm not sure this platform is the place to be going there .
For the approach to the subject has to be as careful as entering into that a holy of Holies .
Someone might say we can now boldly go. Not many actually do I think . But rather stay outside as it were in the outer court and seek God there.
I do actually believe that the Holy Bible is a full and perfect revelation of God but is a closed book to just the curious or carnal mind .
WE have the body of truth and the Spirit of truth who knows "the mind of God and the deep things of God"
We need both .
But perhaps a consideration of the fact that the Father did not create anything without the Son "for whom are all things and by whom are all things" But if you cannot hear or understand a man's words without him giving his breath or life to his words ,nor then can any man hear or understand Gods Word unless the Holy Spirit enables him to do so .
For even as the same Holy Spirit was needed to inspire men to so write . So by the same measure the Holy Spirit is needed to understand what is written.
" My Word shall not return unto me void but shall accomplish that where unto I sent it ."
To know God is far more than knowing the facts about God .
I agree we are called to enter that holy place . But I still think that not many actually answer the call .
For is it not written we have been made kings and priests unto God ?
But by careless preaching the gospel has been reduced to being but BORN again to enter the outer court to accept the sacrifice that was made out in the world in the cold light of day for all to see.
There as in the Old Testament we commune with God ,happy as " little children" in his love and provision but yet still only seeing things by sight and the natural light of the sun.
The Holy place has no natural light of the sun to illuminate it .
Eyes cannot peer into it .
Yet the curtain into the outer court is of the same pattern as that of the Holy place .
He who called us to the first also calls all to the second .
But first needs must wash our feet and hands .
Is it not written that they who ascend the hill of the Lord must have clean hands ( our service towards man) and a pure heart ( our service to God).
In the Holy place we have the 7 branch oil lamp on the left and the bread on the right .
The 7 branch oil lamp of one piece are thec" seven spirits of God " but of one .
The bread speaks of the Word of God . In the outer court you might think that God is our servant and many do.
But in the Holy place we find we are Gods servant and here we walk by faith and not by sight .
Moreover is there not the alter of incense? Also continually burning?
Are we not called to " pray without ceasing"?
How do you pray without ceasing? And not become a mumbling religious?
We become a prayer to God our hearts always turned to the Lord in continual prayer and with groaning that cannot be uttered .
Or carry in our hearts the burden of the Lord . Did not Samuel say it would be a sin for him if he did mot pray for the people?
Note we have hardly touched the subject and we have still only just entered the Holy place .
Hello Peggy. You could look up the following Scriptures on Jesus Christ's Deity (i.e. God's fullness found in Jesus ( Colossians 2:9) & in His Holy Spirit). Jesus' Deity is proved by:
a. His Names: Hebrews 1:8, John 20:28 (God); Matthew 16:16, Matthew 26:61-65 (the Son of God); Matthew 22:41-46 (Lord); Revelation 19:13 (Word of God); Revelation 19:16 (King of kings and Lord of lords).
b. His Characteristics: Matthew 28:18 (Omnipotence: all powerful); Luke 6:8, John 2:24,25, John 13:11 (Omniscience: all knowing); Matthew 18:20 (Omnipresence: present in any place); John 1:4 (Life); John 14:6 (Truth); Hebrews 13:8 (Immutability: unchanging); 1 Timothy 3:16, John 1:1-14 (God manifest in the flesh in Jesus).
c. His Works: John 1:3, Colossians 1:16 (creates); Colossians 1:17 (sustains); Luke 7:48,49 (forgives sin); John 11:41-44 (raises the dead); John 5:27 (judges); John 15:26 (sends the Holy Spirit).
d. His receiving Worship: Hebrews 1:6 (from angels); Revelation 5:11-13 (from other heavenly beings); Matthew 14:33 (from men); Philippians 2:10 (from all).
e. His equality within the Triune God: John 14:23, John 10:30-33 (with the Father); Matthew 28:19, 2 Corinthians 13:14 (with the Father and the Spirit).
I hope you can see from these few Scriptures that Jesus was not just a special Man or Prophet sent by God, but truly was "God manifested in the flesh". No other man before Jesus' coming, during, or after His leaving this Earth, could ever fully reflect God's Glory, Wisdom & Power. Only God could - and He did this by sending us His Word, made Him a Man, so that He could give His Life as full payment for our sins - but only to those who believe this & place their trust in Him. To some, the 'Trinity' teaching is abominable. But man's salvation depends on the Divine Person of the Lord Jesus Christ - that God could accept no other Sacrifice to redeem & secure people to Himself - only by giving fully of Himself, which is true love for all.
Man ,is he not a tripart being?
Of mind body and spirit .
The body is not the body ,the spirit is not the mind .neither is the same as the other but all three are one .
Unless of course your mind is not right your spiritually dead or your body is not what you say it is .
For man was created in the image of God .
But he is born in the image of Adam.
John 17 is worth prayerful and bought full study .

But I do think that He wants us to go there. And I do think this forum is a most appropriate place to bring forward truth about
Him. With the vast array of topics that arise on this forum, those that address the nature and Being of God come along too
infrequently. He is the object of our faith, the One we worship, so learning more and more about Him is every so beneficial.
Knowing Him in truth through the Spirit really is vital to our faith, for to learn falseness about Him is from another spirit and
leads us to worship a god who is not Him who revealed Himself to us in Scripture, history, and in the physical universe.
We are to worship God with all of our being, so employing our God-given mind and its capacities to apprehend Him more and
more is doing just that. This is what our minds were made for and since our minds have been sanctified along with the rest of
us, we should be pursuing knowledge of God, which is what Jesus said is eternal life in John 17:3. Of course, it is not just with
our intellect that we know Him, but with our hearts and soul and whole being as well.
Thanks for your reply.
