There is an obvious common thread in "new age" thinking: that the body is of utmost importance. This is obvious of the world in general. Yet it is unambiguous to me that the body plays a big part in orthodox Christian circles. Therefore it is obvious that new age and Christian thinking have a lot in common. I've respectfully made it clear over the months that bodies are not my reality and that spirit IS. I put No faith in the body. It is not life. You may want to consider refraining from associating me with that label without first associating it with yours and many churches' system of thought.
You are also referring to my thought system as dualistic, which I find a bit comical, because I believe I'm the only one on this site that believes opposites cannot coexist in reality, including the Mind Of God. Opposites entail the belief in TWO, i.e. dual, dualistic, duality, separated, split, opposing. I've clearly expressed that opposing, dualistic thoughts are not in the Mind of God and He does not change His Mind back and forth between opposites. His thinking is always certain, and therefore dependable. How else could we come to know Him if it wasn't? In this way God is ONE Minded. Yet your words and the words constantly splattered on this site obviously reflect a dual minded God. Again, whether or not you agree with me or not on issues, please consider using the dualism label on yourself and others before claiming it for me.
Please take this as a suggestion out my respect for you and others reading and commenting. Please know there is no anger or negative emotions in the above words. You and others have the perfect right and free will to continue to use these labels as you see fit, as I realize anything you say to me and others is out of love and concern.
Direct quote from scripture: John 4:24 God is Spirit. John 3:6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of Spirit is spirit. John 6:63 It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I (Jesus) speak unto you are spirit, and they are life.
God is Spirit. Where in the scriptures does it say God, i.e. Creator, is Flesh; and they that worship Him must worship Him in FLESH and in truth? If Christ was born of flesh, then He wasn't born of God; nor would He be Spirit because Spirit would not be an option if Christ was created flesh. John 3:6 contains two opposite parts to its statement and clearly leaves no room that both options are simultaneously possible, nor that each entity can produce something other than what it is, or change back and forth, or be mixed together, which means coexist. John 6:63 is clear that the words Jesus speaks, which is truth, are spirit and life. NOT flesh and death, which would obviously be untruth.
James 3:11, 12 Doth a fountain send forth at the same place sweet water and bitter? Can a fig tree, my brethren, bear olive berries? either a (grape) vine, figs? so can no fountain both yield salt water and fresh. The REASON this is truth is because in reality, the Mind of God can not and will not produce opposing, dualistic thoughts. A mouse can't produce mice and elephants. When thinking in terms of opposites (dualistic mind) we inevitably WILL have bitter (impure) thoughts and sweet (pure) thoughts, and of course project this insane way of thinking onto God. 1 John 4:8 says "God is Love." Where in scripture does it say, God is Hate? I don't require any more scripture to make the statement "Love creates Itself and nothing but Itself."
For now, I'll stick with Jesus APPEARED as a body, with the fullness of Christ Mind as One with His Mind; not His body. If we were frogs He would have appeared as a frog.
In the Jn. 3 passage, Jesus was speaking of being born again, Not a redo of physical birth, which cannot happen. Flesh gives birth to flesh just once in one's life when they are physically born in the flesh. But Jesus was speaking of the rebirth as a spiritual rebirth, a coming back alive of our spirit and soul to become spiritually alive to God through Christ. This is why He said flesh gives birth to flesh and spirit gives birth to spirit. Things done in the flesh to please God and gain acceptance is not possible; one must be spiritually reborn by the Holy Spirit's work. So, He is saying that the Jn 6 is that it is truly only the Spirit who can impart eternal life and regenerate to life sinners dead in their sins. The flesh is profitless because won cannot use the flesh to reconcile oneself to God because we are dead in sin and our flesh is corrupted as much as our soul and spirit. We cannot bring anything of ourselves to God for acceptance. Only through the death and resurrection of Jesus in the flesh can we be redeemed.
And yes, God is Spirit from all eternity. Jesus was God from all eternity and with the Father and the Holy Spirit are spiritual in the One Being of the Godhead.
But, as the Scriptures I gave you, Jesus did come in actual flesh. Mary gave birth to a baby of flesh, bones, and blood. This was Jesus, God coming in a body of flesh. As the eternal Son of God, He is Spirit, but in His humanity, He is flesh.
This explanation does not align with your religious philosophy, so you reject it because you desire to fit Scripture into your religious mindset. Yet, by refusing to believe Jesus came in the flesh, then you are an antichrist and not a believer.
The good news is, you can always submit yourself to the truth of Scriptures and believe that Jesus was God in flesh, two natures in one Person who was crucified in the flesh, shedding physical blood and suffering physically emotionally and spiritually to save us who believe on Him.
You are correct that God is Spirit from all eternity. Yet, the names such as Mary, John, Jesus, etc. are used for body identification. Jesus the BODY was not God, because God is not a body. I realize it's difficult to reason that Jesus the body is not the Christ. Jesus that appeared as a body, was fully aware His reality was Spirit, being completely aligned and in harmony with the Mind of God. Christ Mind, not body, is Mind of God extended to His perfect creation in creation. Without some human body to relate to which took on the Christ Mind, we would have no way to relate to God. Jesus, the body who appeared had as his mind the Christ Mind He was created with. Thus, the mind of Jesus has nothing in it that does not come from God; the difference between us now is that He has nothing else - we do. And that nothing else is all beliefs that God is not only Love, but He is also the God of fear. Love and fear are opposing thoughts and ideas. They can only exist in a confused mind, bent on duality.
The bible says that there is no fear in Love and that perfect Love casts out fear. Because fear has to do with punishment. Thus, by this passage's own definition, punishment is not from Love, i.e. God. It comes from a mind that has made fear for itself, and we will believe in what we made. Perfect Love casts out fear. If fear exists, then there is not Perfect Love. But, only Perfect Love exists. If there is fear, it produces a state that does not exist.
Being born again, of course is not a physical rebirth. It pertains to the Mind of God reminding us of the Christ Mind or the Spirit as we were created by Spirit, and accepting only this as our truth. The word "again" in born again reveals we are spirit and we must be born again of that awareness of our original identity. We must AGAIN arrive to this knowledge. Jesus is higher because without Him the distance between God and man would be to great for us to encompass. You, GiGi are a holy creation.
After reading your posts, I will add this Scripture section:
John 1:1-4, 14
"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by Him; and without Him was not anything made that was made. In Him was life...
And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us and we beheld His glory, the glory of the only begotten of the Father) full of grace and truth."
These verses say that Jesus was the Word with the Father and is God long with the Father, being His begotten Son, not made, but all things were made through Jesus.
Then it says the the Word became flesh and dwelt on earth with men who are physical beings.
You deny this about Jesus.
If Jesus was only a Spirit then He did not truly die nor shed His blood for the forgiveness of sins. So if you believe He is only a Spirit, then you deny his saving sacrifice of his fleshly life for us to bring forgiveness of sins, reconcile us to the Father, and give us eternal life.
Your beliefs deny two of the most essential beliefs of the Christian faith. Therefore, I will say that you are not a Christian and you are not saved.
If you think life is unreal, then you are an illusion and not real. And so there was not reason for Jesus to die for something that is not a reality. And if your physical life is not a reality, then everything about your life, your thoughts actions, feelings, words, are all non-existent, too. So, how is this non-existence, One eighty?
You are very fooled by your philosophy. It is not Christian by any stretch of the imagination. So, I urge you to be open to the thought that you may be in grave error and in jeopardy of spending eternity separated from God in a real physical lake of fire to receive God's wrath forever.
I am sorry to have to say this to you. But your own words have shown where you stand before Jesus our Lord, and it is not in the way of salvation.
Thank you for your reply. I appreciate that you have expressed your views so plainly. I do think you are sincere and open to hear ideas.
I will just leave you with these verses:
If you will, could you show me from a direct quote from Scripture that Jesus was only a Spirit when He was born of Mary. And where it says that He arose in Sprit and not a bodily resurrection?
Where does it say in Scripture that God only created that which is spiritual and that anything material or physical or of flesh is not made by God or not reality?
Point me to the Scripture that says that God can only create what He Himself is-Spirit?
Consider these Scripture truths:
Genesis 1 tells us that God created the heavens and the earth and all that dwells in both heaven and earth. It says that God saw all that He had made and said that it was very good. So the physical world is just as real as the spiritual world.
Colossians 1:15-16 says "For by Him (Jesus Christ) were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones,, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by Him, and for Him."
We do not see spiritual beings, but physical things are visible to us.
And also these:
1 John 3:2-3
"And every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God; and this is the spirit of the antichrist whereof ye have heard that it should come; even now already is it in the world."
2 John 7, 9-10
"For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deciever and an antichrist.
Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son. If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into y9our house, neither bid him God speed"
Your have the spirit of antichrist by your own words.
