Sometimes I seriously wonder if I am truely saved. I still can't seem to break free from certain sinful habits. Also, I made numerous stupid sinful decisions in my youth, for which I will probably always have to deal with the consequences. I experience and enjoy very little of God, Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit on a daily practical basis. I am basically a barren wilderness, many times sad, depressed and confused on why I cannot rest fully satisfied in Jesus Christ.
Dear Phillip Mezzapelle, we have all sinned and come short of the glory of God ( Romans 3:23). But if we confess those sins He will forgive us ( 1 John 1:9). We confess them at the moment we accidentally commit them and other sins that come to mind during the confession part of the time(s) we set apart to confess, praise, sing, quote Scripture, read and study the Bible, etc. We confess our sins and ask Him to help us repent--or to never repeat that sin.
The problem is--the sin, if you will--is that those accidental sins can become deliberate. Some of them become our pet sins. We may hate them but they give us pleasure and are habit-forming and we just keep on doing this. This stunts our growth in Christ. You cannot continuously commit deliberate sin and expect to live a joyful, victorious, life in Christ.
Repent of those sins right now and determine never to do them again with Christ's help--ask Him, and He will help you, but repenting is up to you.
Establish a special, lone time of devotion to our Lord, as I mentioned above. Stay faithful to Him. Go to a Gospel-preaching church. Serve others. Tythe. Stay repented of your sins...
Psalms 1
1 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.
We all have barren times, Paul is an example of that. Look at the scriptures Paul wrote, there are your answers. Leave the past where it is, look to Jesus as you do. There's a price we all pay for being faithful, "when you have done all, stand".

I concur with D.
To look towards Christ.
You can trust that he's merciful.
and all knowing therefore you can't catch him by surprise so you can't disappoint him.
Stay in his word for spiritual growth.
cast your burden upon him.
The moment Jesus took upon flesh he was on his way to the cross.
Look at him here after getting rejected and ever so close to the cross.
He has time to think about you and I.
Matthew 11:28-30.
Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
You can trust him.
God bless.
