do u have to be baptised to get to heaven
  • GiGi - In Reply - 1 year ago
    Dear Alysasamaksm,

Jesus instructed His disciples to make disciples of all nations (through the gospel) and to baptize these disciple in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and for them to teach these disciples all that He commanded of them. Matt. 28:19.

Alyssa,we are to believe the truth about Jesus for salvation, which is the gospel message of His sinless life to fulfill all the requirements of the laws for us, His physical suffering and death on the cross to satisfy the offense of our sins to God and bring forgiveness of sins, and His bodily resurrection, that brings to us justification before God and the guarantee that we will be resurrected bodily and be glorified at His second coming. We are to believe that He is God in the flesh, the eternal Son of the Father who, though God and Spirit, became man while keeping all His divinity, to be our Saviour according to the promises made throughout the Old Testament.

Alyssa, these are the basic beliefs for one to believe for salvation. We are to believe that our salvation lies solely in Jesus and we receive this salvation by faith through grace upon receiving the truth of the gospel. Water baptism is a command of Jesus26:20for those who come to faith in Him. ( Matt. 28:19)

Peter preached as such in His sermon at Pentecost. ( Acts 2:28) and again in Acts 3:19. Paul preached as such in Acts 17:30 and 20:21 and 26:20. Preaching repentance and turning to God in faith in Jesus through the gospel message. The practice of those who believed was to be baptized following conversion.

So, while it is not absolutely necessary for salvation for one to be baptized, Jesus did command believers to be baptized, just as He commanded people to believe in Hm to be saved. Baptism is an outward sign of an inward spirtual cleansing and of being crucified with Christ and buried (thus the waters of baptism) and raised with Christ (thus the coming out of the waters of baptism) and seated with Him in the heaven.

No you have to repent of your sins to be born again. John3:3 1Peter1:23 Romans6:6 Baptism is important but if you don't you want miss heaven. The thief on the cross did not have time to be baptized. Luke 24:42-47 All christians should be baptized and want to follow every example Jesus left us.

Hiya ...Childoftheking very good question....But remember Jesus said ye are made clean by the WORD i have spoken unto you... John 13:10 kjv....Thus i think that the 2 thieves were made clean by that conversation that Jesus had with them....As Jesus was the living word made flesh and Blood.... John 1 And the word was God...Being bornagain of an incorruptible seed even by the words of God...( Jesus's words )..Today if you will hear his voice harden not your hearts...Water baptism was the O.C....But under this N.C. @ Calvary...It was @ Calvary that he said it is finished...We can be bornagain by just hearing his voice...ok

    Alex,

    part 3

the kingdom of Christ is NOW. He is in heaven at the right hand of God reigning over his saints in heaven and on earth.

The only way for the Jews or Israelites to enter this kingdom is by the blood of Jesus through faith by grace, just like the Gentiles.

So, as you say, today if You hear His voice, do not harden your hearts, but turn to Jesus and be saved. This is what the Jews and Israelites must do to possess the promised Messianic kingdom. We all must be born again in order to enter the kingdom, as Jesus said to Nicodemus. All who trust in Jesus to save them, believing all He says about how we are saved by Him, will indeed be saved.

The world is full of unbelievers who need to hear and believe the gospel message of Jesus. The nation of Israel is far from this saving faith as a nation, being mostly secular now. And the Gentile world is also in rebellion to God and not in Christ's kingdom either.

We should pray for the true gospel message be proclaimed far and wide to unbelievers in hopes that some will be saved. All of the elect of God will come to faith. God knows how many and who these are. He will work in them to bring them to salvation using His gospel and believers to share it.

Alex, we can depend on the blood of Jesus, shed for us. We can obediently be baptized in water in the name of the Father and

of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. (It was not part of the OT system, but of the new, as it was and has been practiced by the apostles and the church since Jesus said those words. We can walk in faith with the newness of life as we are a new creation. We can confess our sins and know that Jesus will forgive us and cleanse us from alll unrighteousness.

I know this is long. But I hope that you are blessed today in the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

    Alex,

    Part 2

...He will give the Kingdom up to the Father that God will be all in all (the only Sovereign of the Kingdom). 1Cor. 15:24

Jesus will rule with His Father forever over the saints and it will be a kingdom of joy, peace, love, power, grace, and righteousness. (Rom.14:17)

God will rule over the kingdom as the only Sovereign. He will rule over heaven and the lake of fire ensuring the blessedness of the saints and the eternal punishment of those under His wrath.

Jesus told Pilate that His Kingdom was not of this world ( John 18:36) It is spiritual and heavenly and also within us.

It is not a Jewish kingdom because Jesus said that the kingdom would be taken from them and given to another nation. ( Matthew 21:43) (This nation being the saints of God-both Jew and Gentile) Jesus' words were fulfilled in 70 A.D. on the generation that was then present. Matthew 22:7; 23:38; Luke 21:20,24) The Romans surrounded Jerusalem and lay siege to it. They burned the temple and the city to the point of desolation. 1.1 million Jews were killed in this siege. Thousands upon thousands were taken captive and enslaved.

Even though there is a nation called Israel today does not mean that there will be an earthly kingdom with the Messiah. About 25% of the Jews worldwide emigrated to Israel since it was given nation status in 1948. The national archives of the Jews were destroyed in the 70A.D.. This means all of the records of peoples families and lineages. The other tribes of Israel have been scattered all over the world and intermixed with the Gentiles. There are a small percentage of these tribes in Israel now. So we cannot say that the whole nation ahs been regathered. But even if there comes a national regathering of ALL of Israel, this does not confirm that there will be an earthly kingdom with Jesus reigning. His kingdom is one of righteousness where sin does not enter it. This world is sinful and corrupt...

This siege ended the time of the Jews and the OT Mosaic system.

GiGi Gbu but you need to read a bit in Rev.11:15...The kingdoms of this world have become the kingdoms of our lord and his Christ....And he shall reign for ever and ever....The kingdoms of this world is implying right here on this earth...Which is beautiful for situation as DAVID said...Nothin more beautiful then Christ in us sinners right here on this earth.

...... Psalms 48:2 beautiful for situation the joy of this whole earth...And as Jesus said the Kingdom is gonna be with in you...Abide in me and in you ...GBU G....He is gonna reign for ever and ever right here on this earth...seed time and harvest forever...

Alex, I believe that the kingdom we inherit is the new heavens and the new earth, not one on this earth, the New Jerusalem. But blessings to you, Alex. I will not involve myself in a discussion on this matter further at this time. Instead I will read the

Scriptures you give me and also investigate further what the Scripture say about the inheritance of the saints-the kingdom of God.

    Hello Pierre-Alex.

We are made clean by the sacrifice of Jesus. His blood shed on the cross and His life given for us is what cleanses us of all unrighteousness. The announcement of the gospel is the vehicle ordained by God for people to come to know this and to bring faith to the hearer. The thief on the cross saw Jesus being crucified. He recognized that He was not only innocent, but also Who He claimed to be: the Messiah, the Redeemer, and King.

This knowledge caused Him to turn to Jesus and ask in faith for Jesus to remember Him when He enters His kingdom. And Jesus told him plainly that His kingdom was NOW for the thief, not some kingdom far into the future, but in the present.. Because Jesus said that the thief would be with Him TODAY indicates that death will not separate the their from Jesus nor keep him OUT of the kingdom of Jesus the Messiah, but he will possess it through Jesus because his soul will be with Jesus, the Righteous One after death.

Jesus' Kingdom is a spiritual, heavenly kingdom, not an earthly one, because it is a perfect kingdom. This earth is imperfect and corrupted, so His kingdom will not be on this earth. It will be in the new heavens and the new earth that will be without sin, corruption, evil, the devil and his angels, the unbelievers, and death! This is the kingdom we inherit NOW and at the same time NOT YET, because He is within us now through the Holy Spirit, we will be with Him without our bodies when we die, and we will receive the kingdom in its fulness when we are resurrected.

Jesus is the fulfillment of all things the Bible speaks of in the OT and NT. He is what history is all about. He is the terminus of all things, since all things point to Him and eventually will meet completion in Him. He is the purpose of creation, all things were created by and for Him. And in His return after He has defeated all that opposes Him, the Father, and the Holy Spirit, when all enemies are defeated and "under His feet" ...continued.

GiGi Gbu....But Jesus neva said his kingdom was not of this world.... John 18:36...What he actually said was my Kingdom is NOT NOW of this world...Gi Gi you leave out the (NOT NOW) to keep your false doctrine of no kingdom on this earth..Which is not true.

.....But Rev.11:15 is very clear....The Kingdoms of this world have become the Kingdoms of our lord and his Christ and he shall REIGN FOR EVER AND EVER...No offence Gi Gi But you do greatly err...And God sends an angel to preach the everlasting gospel to all that dwell on the earth... Rev 14:6...Do you see the folly of your doctrine...of no kingdom on this earth...And Jesus sends his disciples to preach the gospel to ALL THE WORLD TO every creature....And sends the manchild the H.G. that Child of Promise to rule ALL NATIONS...Why wd God do all these things if there were no kingdom on this beautiful earth....Beautiful for situation simply b/c its gonna be situated in our hearts where the KINGDOM SEED IS SOWN

....And Isaiah 11:9...( says that KNOWLEGE shall cover the earth as the waters cover the seas...Thats y he wants to KNOW US...Remember that tree of KNOWLEGE in the Garden of God...And Habakkuk 2:14...Knowledge shall cover the earth as the waters cover the seas and the Earth shall be full of the GLORY OF THE LORD....(THE KINGDOM)....This knowledge is an intimacy that is gona result in a birth of Christ in everyone...Thats y Jeremiah saw ALL men in travail and birth pains... Jeremiah 30:6...We are gonna birth a baby Christ which is the H.G...That Child of Promise...If i be lifted up i will draw ALL men unto me...Jesus plainly tells us the Kingdom of God will come as a man who sows seed in his field....And he said the field is our hearts the world....But we must remember that this is the bridegroom speaking...Thats y he has to know us in order to sow that heavenly seed in our hearts....Which is a baby Christ...Unless you receive the Kingdom of God as a lil CHILD you will in no wise enter there in...The man child.
  • GIGI - In Reply - 1 year ago
    Hello Alex,

The "now" does not always mean "at this present time" as you take it to mean in John 18:36. It is also used as an interjectory word as in Matthew 1:18 "Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise:" Matthew was not saying that Jesus was being born at that present time he wrote this gospel. In the same way, Jesus, after saying once that His kingdom was not of this world, He reiterates what He just said using the word "now" in the same way as Matthew did in Matthew 1:18.

Gi-Gi Gbu...love ya....But all the explaining in the world cannot change the scriptures....Rev.11:15...The kingdoms of this world have become the Kingdoms of our lord and his Christ and he shall reign for ever and ever...There is no scripture that can change this...And many more that tells us His kingdom is gona be right here on this earth...

.....And you said that this earth is too sinful for his kingdom to be here ...But you are not realizing what Jesus said....In John 16:8 kjv..When he the Spirit of truth is come ( the H.G. the manchild the kingdom ) he will reprove the world of sin and judgement and righteousness....Unless you receive the Kingdom of God as a lil Child you will in no wise enter there in....She brought forth a manchild that is gonna rule all Nations....All Nations is indicative of this beautiful earth...

.....There is nothing wrong with this beautiful Earth that the blood of the lamb did not fix...@ Calvary...A new heart and a new spirit is all mankind needs...As being born again of his incorruptible seed ... Isaiah 62 :22kjv ...As the New heaven and the New earth shall remain so shall your SEED and NAME remain...Which is the seed of the sower that is gona form Christ in us, The H.G. his name sake the Kingdom....Which is our New heart and New spirit...Gi-Gi Always remember God so loved the world ( humanity) that he gave his only begotten son....And the gift of the H.G....The Promise is that Kingdom as the Kingdom of God is not in meat or drink but in joy and peace and righteousness in the H.G. Romans 14:17 kjv

....Gi-Gi stay away from other bibles like the NSAB, OR Concordences and Church comentaries They can make the bible say anything....Thats y there are a approx. 20,000 different Churches and religions on every corner....They all have their big Concordences but none of them believe the same....The scriptures plainly tells the Anointing you have received of him ...will teach you all things...You need no man teach you 1 st John 2:27 kjv only
  • GIGI - In Reply - 1 year ago
    Alex, thanks for the explanation.
  • GIGI - In Reply - 1 year ago
    Hello again Alex,

As to what an interjection is: a word or phrase that is made for emphasis, usually at the beginning of a sentence or at times within the sentence structure, other times at the end.

In this verse, the NSAB says, As it is, my kingdom is not of this world hence. A few other translations use the word "But, my kingdom is not of this world hence."

Those that use "Now" are using this word in the same way as the other translations. Since Jesus had just spoken in the previous sentence that if His kingdom was of this world, people would come to fight for Him. Then He goes back to His first sentence about His kingdom not being of this world using "Now" or "But" to direct the hearer back to the initial statement.

    I hope this helps:

Acts 2:38 - Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

1 Peter 3:21 - The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:

Mark 16:16 - He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.

Galatians 3:27 - For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.

Acts 22:16 - And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord.

Romans 6:4 - Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

    Alyssamaksm,

In order to get into heaven, a person must be born of God's Spirit. Jesus baptizes people with His Spirit. That is the baptism (Spirit Baptism) that is required for salvation. A person must repent (make a decision to change the direction of their life), and they must surrender their life to Jesus Christ. According to Peter's words in Acts Chapter 2, a person must repent, surrender to Christ, (identify with Him) and He will pour out His Spirit upon you and save you.

Things you might consider asking yourself: If water baptism is required to get into heaven, what happens to the person who gets water baptized but never receives Christ as their Savior? Another question: If a person receives Christ and is born of His Spirit, and they get into their car to go and get water baptized, but on the way, they die in a car accident. What happens to that person?

Now, I am not saying that water baptism is not important. I believe it is very important. I believe every Christian should seek to be water baptized immediately AFTER salvation, not as a requirement for salvation, and not as a requirement to get into heaven. Water baptism is an outward testimony of something that has already taken place in your life (Salvation). It testifies of your identification with Jesus Christ as your Savior.
  • Adam - In Reply - 1 year ago
Hello, I believe the largest % of Christians say no, but what's most important is what the Bible says about it, not just what a group of people say. Is water baptism a command from God? Yes. Acts 2:38, 1 Peter 3:21, John 3:5, etc.

    Link

Of course you will have people get excited about this, twist scripture, and try to convince you that its not important- that was the Bible says isn't what it says. Is the goal of Christianity to obey Jesus or to disobey? I would think those who genuinely love Jesus would just do what He says. John 14:15.

It was important enough that Jesus himself was baptized and told everyone else to. I would see only upside in doing it and a downside in stubbornly refusing to. Another question worth asking is would you ask Jesus the same question, even though He already said to do it? Hope that is helpful. God bless.

Hello Adam . You may be pleased to discover that in many congregations and parts of the world outside of the U.S.A. , baptism is required before a person can become a member of the congregation . Having lived in Europe and Africa , I can tell you that most congregations are very old in their history , unlike the more modern congregations of North America . In these older congregations , many of which are hundreds of years old , all members must confess their faith and be fully immersed in water to be baptized . Baptism seems only to be neglected in the more modern civilisations , so take heart , there are millions of baptized Christians all over God's earth and they are still coming to Him through Christ and baptism into his death and new life .

Hiya Jema let me ramble just a minute about Baptism....Water baptism was not the baptism of PROMISE....As Jesus said behold i send the promise of my father upon you...Which was baptism of the H.G. that 1 and only Promise baptism...Which is an internal cleansing of the hearts....That New heart and new spirit baptism....But water baptism was not an internal cleasing....And Jesus tells us its the things that come from heart that defiles aman....Not his personal hygiene....But his hearts...

.....At the well Jesus tells the Samaritan Woman whosoever drinks of this water shall thirst again....Impling salvation by water baptism...Jacobs well, natural water that old covenant....But the water that i shall give him shall be a well of water spring up unto everlasting life...Which answers to that New Covenant that living water....His spirit the gift of the H.G....That baptism of Promise which was that Christ wd be multiplied in humanity by his precious seed the word...When he breath on them he was propagating very God which is the H.G. The Children of Promise....Spirits as that which is born of the spirit is spirit which is our new innerman, The New birth...Jesus knew that all of his disciples had been water baptised but he warns them if i wash thee not you will have no part with me....Which speaks volumes of a greater baptism...ok Gbu
