May 2, 2023 I Sterling Campbell started a 40 day fast of no food, only water and Spiritual food from Gods Word.

The reason for staring this fast is this; I have been struggling with the sin of lust since I was 8 years old. I asked Jesus Christ into my heart when I was 12 and was baptized. At 17, still struggling with lust, but trying to serve God, I got insnared with the deadly sin of pornography witch coincides with lust. Now at the age of 34 I still struggle in this area. I have tried every way humanly possible to break free from this sin. I have asked for help from God, my friends, my family, a paster that put covalent eyes on my devises but all to no avail. I feel like I'm a lunatic and sore vexed. I looked up the definition for lunatic and it is someone that is a fool. Proverbs 26:11 As a dog returneth to his vomit, so a fool returneth to his folly. I also saw that being a lunatic is one that is epileptic. Epilepsy causes seizures. To witch I have had 2, but it also causes depression, anxiety, suicidal thoughts and behaviors, fear, uncontrollable jerking of the arms and legs, temporary confusion, all of what I have had. But do I think this is a disorder? No! I think this is a sin issue. I think the symptoms are from the this sin that is killing me. Puritan pastor John Owen said; "be killing sin or sin will be killing you" In Matthew 17: 15-21 Jesus cures a child that is thought to be a lunatic but is possessed with a devil, and heals him by casting out the devil. And says Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting. I am a man that is oppressed by the devil and keeps getting tempted by the devil to give into my own lusts and sin. I have fallen many times and I don't want to fall again. So this is why I am willing to fallow my Lord's example in Luke 4:1-13 I have tried my way and fell, now I will do it Gods way. I will fast for 40 days and pray that God heals me from this.

Can you pray for me that I may stay true to the end?

    Hello Saddle

Firstl epilepsy has nothing to do with sin. It is an illness like any other and the best thing for you to do is to have an appointment with a doctor any take the proper medicine.

Now about pornography, this is a sin. But lust? What do you mean when saying lust? If you mean desire of men for women and the opposite, then this is something normal. God made us people like that so that we get married and have children. So instead of trying to avoid the unavoidable, maybe you should be thinking of getting married to a woman and having a family?

Forget all those things about lunatics and possesed people that are in your mind. Those are not for you. You need some good advice. If there is a church you attend and somebody you can talk to, a pastor, an elder, then go and talk to them about your problems and seek for advice. You don't need to fast (apart for pornography, and defineitely not for 40 days), but you need to get out of the confusion that is in your mind.

    May God Bless You.

hi Giannis! I can see where you might think I was saying that epilepsy is a sin. I was not saying that all cases of epilepsy are sin. The main cause for epilepsy is stress on the body. Whether that stress is caused by sin in the life of the body or by something ells. Only the person struggling with it can tell where that stress is coming from. I was trying to say that according to the KJB and some research that I have done, that the words lunatic and epileptic are derivative from the same latin word lunaticus which originally referred mainly to epilepsy and madness, as diseases thought to be caused by the moon. The King James Bible records "lunatic" in the Gospel of Matthew, which has been interpreted as a reference to epilepsy. I have had epileptic symptoms while committing the sin of adultery therefore the stress of knowing that I am committing sin is causing my epilepsy. It's a shame that we have drifted so fare from God that we start putting names for sin so that we can diagnose it as a disease or mental disorder when God just called it sin. The definition for lunatic is "great or wild foolishness" And anyone that would trade Gods love for pornography, adultery, lust, or any of the things in 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 or anything that cools our affection for God is a lunatic and sore vexed with sin. I might add that LUST is a sin. Romans 1:21-32 James 1:14-15 Mark 4:19 Matthew 5:27-28 What I am trying to accomplish in this fast is Psalms 51:9-17

P.S. Yes I am married to a wonderful woman that is supporting me in this fast and is helping through this. She prays for me every day.

    Hello Saddle-Shop-Ministries

Sorry, I misunderstood your post, I thought you were confused. I wish you to be freed by God. During my christian life I have met people who God freed them completely from very distructive passions like, say, drugs, like they had never taken them before in their life.

So be encouraged and relax on God's Grace.

Hi Giannis. Thank you. Thats what I am hoping and praying for as well, is to be completely freed from these chains of sin. To the point of not struggling with it as an addict but as someone that has never fallen in to this type of addiction. Thank you for your prayers. I hope that in doing this fast that I can strengthen someone else's faith and lead more people to Christ as well.

    May God bless you!
