This is a question instead of a comment. I need some help. How do you tell what is hebrew poetry? For example I know that Genesis 1:27 is poetry because it was used in a example in a study I was doing. Other versions change the line breaks when a section is poetry. How do I tell in the kjv?

Hi Halfpint13. I'm sorry that I can't give you specific help with your question, as I'm neither a Jew nor literate in Hebrew. But if I could direct you to My Jewish Learning, and at the Search box at the top right of the main page, type in Conventions of Biblical Poetry. This is an interesting study on this subject, even as the three main poetic Bible books of the Psalms, Lamentations, & Song of Songs reveal. What one would read in the Hebrew could not be replicated in English (even the KJV), unless one alters the wording to give texts its poetic form. As you noted, some Bible versions do make an attempt to present such writing & thus enabling to be used in speech.

Reading Genesis 1:27, in my understanding what matters and prevails is the mystery of creation of man. But how? By the way, First of all, GOD is Spirit; GOD is the Word, self-executing. But how is the image of the Spirit of GOD? GOD alone -the Word is GOD- couldn't create man, He first needed to create an IMAGE of His Person - JESUS - , as is written in Hebrews 1:1-3 and 8.

By the way, man crreated by GOD is without sin, thus the conclusion about the corrupt generations the creator is another, an usurper, a lost one who grafted his evil seed into the one GOD had created - 1John 3:10-12. Terrible, very terrible.

    Hello, Oseas,

    Interesting interpretation.

I don't think we will fully understand what is meant be God creating man int he image of God until we are resurrected and in the eternal state where we see God fully in Jesus.

I do not think that Scripture states that Jesus as the Father's Son was ever created. The Son of God had eternal existence just as the Father and the Spirit. Genesis 1 shows us the trinity in the Father creating all things through the Word His Son) an the Spirit hovering over the act of creation.

Jesus has eternally been the exact image of the Godhead. What that truly means is for us to find out in the future eternal state.

Yes, God is Spirit, but He can create however He wills, either spiritual realities and beings or physical realities or beings.

Since He is eternally a Spirit, then His image in us must be a non-physical image. Many say it is that we have a will, mind, emotions, soul, which make up this image of God in us.

I do not believe that an evil usurper implanted any seed into the human race or made us corrupted by sin. Adam and Eve sinned an the result was moral and physical corruption for all humans who came after them. This corruption came through the acts of free will that Adam and Eve made. They were sinless in their creation, but we made capable of sinning, which they chose on their own. The evil one did tempt them, but that was all he could do to (as that was lll God allowed him to do at that time). From the time after the first sin of Adam and Eve until the second coming of Cbrist, the evil one is at work in the world to deceive, robe, kill, and destroy humanity as he continues to tempt people to do wrong to one another and continues to deceive people with his evil ways.

We, as believer, have been delivered from the kingdom of darkness (sin and death) and placed into Christ's kingdom of light (righteousness and holiness). We are part of our Lord's kingdom now and will receive the fullness of our salvation when He returns.

    Hello, GiGi

    Greetings in Christ JESUS

Thank you for your reply, I really enjoyed your post and hearing from you.

The subject is very profound evidently, however, as Paul Apostle did say, "our faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of GOD; we speak the wisdom of GOD in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which GOD ordained before the world unto our glory- 1 Corinthians 2:5&7. Our Lord JESUS promised saying: Unto every one that has shall be given, and he shall have abundance: ...

I like to meditate deeply in the Word of GOD-the Word is GOD( John 1:1), and to deceipher the biblical enigmas. The psalmist said: I will bend my ear to a parable, with a lyre(harp) I will solve my riddle.

In my view, Genesis is a GOD's Plan of RESTORATION of all things( Acts 3:18-26), revealed to Moses around 2500 years after Adam, or after two and half GOD's Days working in His creation. By the way, around 4000 years after Adam(end of fourth Day), our GOD was still working:JESUS, the EXPRESS IMAGE of GOD, said:My Father worketh hitherto, and I work- John 5:17KJV. What was the work of JESUS? To fulfill LITERALLY Gen.1:26-27:

26 And GOD said, Let US make man(MANY) in OUR image, after OUR likeness: and let THEM have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing UPON the earth.---> By the way, compare with Revelation 11:15 to 18 Here, our Lord JESUS still was in the BOSOM of the Father- John 1:18The question, you know, is that our GOD "calleth those things which be not as though they were"- Romans 4:17. Only now has the sixth GOD's Day arrived, so, only from now on will Genesis 1:26-27 be fulfilled LITERALLY( Luke 20:35-36) AS A PROPHECY. Romans 8:18-25 explain better. In my understand, Adam is a human gender.

    Hello oseas,

    Thanks for the reply.

It seems that we are very far apart as far as how we approach and interpret Scripture. I do not know of a verse that tells us to search for hidden and obtuse meanings in Scripture where the plain meaning fits with the context of the verses being studied. I think that looking for "hidden knowledge" in Scripture will lead to much error. It was what the Gnostics did in the early days of the Church and were spoken of as people whose ideas believers are to avoid.

Gi Gi.....Jesus says in Matthew 11:25.....I thank you Father Lord of heaven and earth that you HAVE HID THESE THINGS from the Wise and Prudent and only revealed them to babes and sucklings.....Thus every thing has a hidden meaning that only the babes can understand......Who are the babes.....the H.G. our new innerman.....That New Creature that has to be born in us....As that which is born of the spirit is spirit which is the H.G. the Children of Promise.....That New Born babe desiring the sincere milk of the word is the H.G. That Child of promise....Which answers to our new hearts and new spirits...So plz don't tells folks there is no hidden knowledge.....ok gbu

    Dear Alex,

    I disagree with you.

I think that Jesus was saying that He made it so that those who thought they were wise and prudent in understanding spiritual matters would not understand, making their ears not hear and their eyes not see. But it is those who are reborn that are able to understand that which has been written in Scripture in light of the gospel and work of Jesus for our salvation. I believe that the New Testament interprets the Old Testament so that what was written in the Old Testament is given correct interpretation in the new Testament.

I do not think as you do, that every Scripture has a hidden meaning. Much of what is written in the Word is easily understood by believers without resorting to some hidden meaning or knowledge because the Holy Spirit brings understanding to us if we continue to read the whole of Scriptures. The more we read from both the New and Old Testament, the more we understand what God was conveying to us and the Holy Spirit helps us apply it to our lives.

I disagree with you GI GI.....We cannot study our selves into the Kingdom of God.....Its gotta come by divine revelation.....and a Child has to be born in us which is the H.G. That Child of Promise.....As Jesus told Peter Flesh and blood has not revealed it unto you but my Father in heaven.....Which is the H.G. the gift of God.....An incorruptible seed has to be sown in us that initiates a new Birth of Christ in us....Thats y he has to know us....So that his good seed will be sown in our hearts.....Thus the babes and sucklings .....Which are baby Gods thats y their praise is perfect.....Outa of the mouths of babes and suckling thou has perfected Praise.....To whom the word came ( the living word) it made them Gods and the scripture cannot be broken.....

His good seed the word has to be sown in our hearts initiating Faith a spiritual pregnancy....When a woman is pregnant she has the substance of things hoped for the evidence of things not seen....But our fetus is the H.G....As that which is born of the spirit is spirit...She brought forth a man child that is gona rule all nations which is that spirit of truth that is gona reprove this world of sin and righteousness and Judgment.... Gal 4 :19 My lil CHILDREN of whom i travail in birth till Christ is formed in you.....Unless you receive the Kingdom of God as a lil Child you will in no wise enter there in....That Hidden manna.....Plz note their is no SALVATION OR KINGDOM till the woman gives birth to the Children as says in Rev. 12 :10.....Thats y Jesus is saying these things are HID from the wise and Prudent...But only revealed unto babes....His babes...His seed etc....Behold me and the Children the lord has given me are they not for signs and wonders to the house of Israel.....They are our new hearts and new spirits.....The H.G. is truly the Israel of God a heavenly ppl that are gonna be born in us....The sun does not lite on them or any heat nor do they ever hunger or thirst simply b/c they are Spirits..Th H.G....

Alex, I strongly disagree with what you have said to counter what I posted. It is false teaching and , in my opinion, hogwash.

You continue to post basically the same ideas over and over again, and seem to be implying that you got this revelation straight from God and not from Scripture. you are in grave error if that is what you believe.
  • Pierre1939 - In Reply on Genesis 1 - 1 year ago
Gi Gi I pray for you, In Jesus name.....Rev.12:5....Now you have put your self in rank with satan the dragon that wants to kill the woman and her Child....Which is the H.G.....My doctrine is solely the doctrine of the manchild.....The H.G. that Child of Promise.....And its this Child the spirit of truth that is gonna reprove this world of sin and righteousness and Judgment.....He has neva known you Gi Gi, if he had you wd be with Child of the H.G.....But you are saying this is all hogwash....Clearly you are without understanding of spiritual things....GBU

    Sister GiGi:

I am going to scold you a little, but purely in LOVE.

You say things; but I don't think, you believe what you say is relevant for us in the present.

You said; and what you said is true, WE, as BELIEVERS, have been (a completed work) DELIVERED from SIN and DEATH; yet you don't believe what you say, if we HAVE BEEN DELIVERED, then it's not the future, BUT NOW.

You said Adam and Eve were sinless; if they were sinless, they would not have sinned.

Romans 8:29 For the creature WAS MADE (not created) subject to VANITY .... all creation from Adam WAS MADE subject to vanity, just a little enticement and they SIN ....

The RESURRECTION CREATED man in the image of God, as in Adam (shadow of Christ) all men DIE, and all men are made ALIVE by the Spirit of resurrection; sin and death were DESTROYED, on the cross; ONLY CHRIST arose, and we AS JOINT HEIRS, the image of Christ, predestinated from the foundations of the world.

I am the FIRST (of creation, the work of the cross) and I am the LAST of creation; creation was RAISED as joint HEIRS.

Ephesians 4:4 .... one body (Christ) .... one Spirit ....

Ephesians 4:6 ..... one God ....and Father of all (including Christ) ...... above ALL .... through ALL .... IN YOU ALL ...

.... this mystery .... Christ in you ..... hid from the ages

    God bless you!

    Dear Earl, (Landry)

I am not in agreement with how you characterized my beliefs nor with your interpretation of

    Scriptures.

Even so, thanks for sharing your thoughts with me. We just do not have much thinking in common as far as I can tell from the many months we have been on this forum together. To me, you are a false teacher, and one whose teachings I should scrutinize carefully and not accept readily.

    God bless.
