"And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?
The disciples asked Jesus 3 questions and he answered them in verse 15.
Verses 4-14 would be non signs of the end of the world. He says that in verse 6. "And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet."
And then he goes on with the beginning of these sorrows as mentioned in Matthew 24:8 until he gets to verses 14 and15.
Vs 14. "And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.
Vs 15. "When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by "DANIEL THE PROPHET, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)
WHOSO READETH, LET HIM UNDERSTAND!!:
Jesus is diverting them back to Daniel 9:27 as the key to end time prophecy. The 70th week of Daniel.
"And he/Antichrist shall confirm the covenant with many FOR ONE WEEK: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease,)
The Great tribulation begins in the middle of the 70th week with Jesus describing Daniels prophecy as the key and details this event in Matthew 24:16-21.
Daniel 12:9-11 And he said, Go thy way, Daniel: for the words are closed up and sealed TILL THE TIME OF THE END.
Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried; but the wicked shall do wickedly: and none of the wicked shall understand; but the wise shall understand.
And from the time that the daily sacrifice shall be taken away, and the ABOMINATION THAT MAKETH DESOLATE set up, there shall be a (thousand two hundred and ninety days). 3.5 years!
I agree! Daniel and many prophets and Apostles were a instrument for the Lord.
They gave God glory, God worked mightily through them.
Israel was and still is an Instrument for the Lord, and their tune is not done playing!
It's going to come a time when the world will see the glory of God through them again instead of despising them. Jeremiah 16:14-15.
Much of the church today is antisemitic because lack of knowledge of the word of God.
Some say the teaching of the Talmud is the primary writings for all of Israel since the Babylonian and it teaches the Israelites to murder kill and hate other people but I don't hold that view and the Bible doesn't teach it.
They also had the writings of Moses as seen in Nehemiah 8:3-18.
The Jews was told to be separated from the world and the world hated them as well as today, including many false Christians.
When Israel left Babylon they had the same writtings that clearly tells them in Leviticus 19:33-34 not to oppress the stranger.
They all didn't do that, But we don't focus on the ethnic group, we focus on the remnant.
Israel history wasn't perfect and neither was the Church!
Today we are not perfect!
Our nation is not perfect! I've seen these same people that criticize Israel but yet by their own mouth, Justify slavery in our Country!
They must consider Matthew 7:1-2."Judge not, that ye be not judged.
For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.
If we read Ezekiel 16:1-63
We will see the sin of Israel. They married/Joined themselves to the Spirit of the World as we have done as well.
So the holocaust and there history of turmoil was them departing the God that Provides.
Daniel gave a great example how to rise in to world powers and not conform to their culture.
Dear brother Spencer, Without question every abiding Christian should have peace in their hearts and lives towards the neighbor no matter what they believe. I went out of service for a little camping. Hope you are well this day too!
As I mentioned before, I believe these 70 weeks to be weeks of years.
Let's carefully look at Daniels prophecy as if they were consecutive.
Let's start where we know the 69th week ends.
It literally pinpoints a particular day.
( unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks:)
Everything written in Daniel 9 :26 is after the 69th week, "But before the 70th".
(AND AFTER THREESCORE AND TWO WEEKS SHALL MESSIAH BE CUT OFF,)
Now, let's look at the 70th week, ( 7 years)
Daniel 9:27 And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease...
There's several things wrong mathematically with some of the views I hear from most that share that these weeks are conservative.
We know by scripture Jesus was crucified within days of his entry into Jerusalem riding on a donkey.
We know by Daniel's prophecy in Daniel 9:25 that the 69th week ends at the coming of the prince.
If the cross is the half way point of the 70th week then that would contradict Daniel prophecy and push the 70th week back 3.5 years. ( 3.5 years before unto the coming of the prince.)
It don't add up going backwards, So let's go forward taking it either way.
If we go forward these final years come up about 37 years short of the Destruction of Jerusalem mentioned in Daniel 9:26 which is supposed to be in the 70th week according to this viewpoint.
I'm glad to hear you're doing fine and welcome back to the site!
We're doing fine as well.
You stated;
These seven weeks can be WEEKS OF DAYS and we know from Bible history that the years in rebuilding the holy city were very much so troublesome times. 62 more years after these seven WEEKS OF DAYS makes 69 weeks. At the end of the 69th week the Messiah came and was cut off mid-week in the 70th week.
I have ALL the 70 weeks as weeks of years, starting and ending on a specific day.
Beginning at "FROM THE GOING FORTH OF THE COMMANDMENT to restore and to build Jerusalem.
and ending at "unto the Messiah the Prince/King when Jesus "PRESENTED HIMSELF" as king
Full filing Zachariah 9:9
and a portion of Genesis 49:9-11.
"Judah is a lion's whelp: from the prey, my son, thou art gone up: he stooped down, he couched as a lion, and as an old lion; who shall rouse him up?
The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh come; AND UNTO HIM SHALL THE GATHERING OF THE PEOPLE BE.
BINDING HIS FOAL UNTO THE VINE, AND HIS ASS'S COLT unto the choice vine;..
Daniel 9:26 says AND AFTER THREESCORE AND TWO WEEKS SHALL MESSIAH BE CUT OFF.
( It doesn't say in the middle of the 70th week. )
Daniel 9:27 Say the prince that SHALL COME he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week:
That is the beginning of the 70th week.
( the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.
And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, )
Thank you brother for your love! I still cannot see how past the end of the 70th year everything was not fulfilled as prophecy regarding the kingdom of the Jews. Even the Jewish new year lines up with the end the literal destruction of Jerusalem in September. The Messiah was cut off after 33 years (mid week) though as you said it is not written. The Lord's life and death in the flesh was in the first part of the 70th year and in His Life he confirmed the covenant, I believe.
Jesus didn't come to end the law and make it desolate. He came to fulfill the law and perfect it.
He came to end the Leviticus priesthood where they presented sacrifices that pointed to him.
( Matthew 5:17-18.)
They rejected their king "Which was prophesied" They made their own "HOUSE" desolate. ( A people without a King to set on David's throne )
What the Prince that shall come does is totally different,
In Daniel 9:27 he confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate.
This is the same thing mentioned in Daniel 12:11, (The abomination that maketh desolate.)
This is what Jesus is saying in Matthew 24:15, ( This can't be at the end of Christ ministry because he said it this abomination would be at the end of the world.)
This 3.5 period is called the GREAT tribulation and it's prophesied towards Daniels "THY PEOPLE, ISRAEL.) Daniel 9:24.
You see this played out in Revelation 12:6.
Let's look at who confirms the covenant for 1 week.
Daniel 9:26-27 reads "And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: AND THE PEOPLE OF THE PRINCE THAT SHALL COME shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.
AND HE SHALL CONFIRM THE COVENANT WITH MANY FOR ONE WEEK: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease....
The Romans destroyed the Sanctuary, Jesus is not their prince.
Jesus didn't confirm this covenant and cause it to cease at his death.
Jesus death BEGINS a covenant!
The covenant in Daniel is a totally different covenant the Antichrist will confirm with Israel and cause the sacrifices to cease midway through the 70th week/Tribulations.
Thank you brother Spencer. I have to believe that Jesus fulfilled every transgression ever known, once, in His sinless flesh and that He has no more to fulfill that hasn't been finished at Calvary regarding mankind while they remain in the flesh. Even Hebrews says he came at the end of the world. So as the regenerated, we look up in faith for the Lord's return to reap His harvest. In time ( I am 1% percent your equal in quoting scripture so quickly) I will add more scriptures and see how they fit some of the scriptures that came to your mind.
Romans 11:25 For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, (until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in.) This is their current position.
26) And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob:
Paul opens up this chapter with this. "I say then, Hath God cast away his people? God forbid. For I also am an Israelite, of the seed of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin.
Romans 11:24 For if thou wert cut out of the olive tree which is wild by nature, and wert graffed contrary to nature into a good olive tree: how much more shall these, which be the natural branches, be graffed into their own olive tree?
Verses 27-29. For this is my covenant unto them, when I shall take away their sins.
As concerning the gospel, they are enemies for your sakes: but as touching the election, they are beloved for the fathers' sakes.
For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance.
This is a covenant of God unto them! And it is without repentance!
He do this for his name's sake as mentioned in Ezekiel 36:23-38.
This happens in the literal Millenium Kingdom right here on earth. It's to many details to say it happens spiritually or in our hearts.
So, if we take the Millenium kingdom to be right after the 70th week of Daniel, these conditions haven't been met yet.
So, if hold to a post-trib viewpoint where all the saints is raptured up at the end of the tribulation and judgement is poured out on all the rest of the world, Who's going to populate the Millenium?
Thank you brother Spencer. I am more understanding your view. Only I am very slow like one thought at a time. :)
The last verse in Daniel 12 still has me meditating on something. When Christ was on the Cross while still alive, the dead arose from the grave and the veil was torn. How did this event affect the House of Israel?
If I were to think of the most blessed members of the House of Israel it was those whom knew no conflict or resistance to the Cross at the time of their literal death ahead of Christ coming. Daniel would have been with many brethren of this lot when he fell asleep in rest.
You asked; When Christ was on the Cross while still alive, the dead arose from the grave and the veil was torn. How did this event affect the House of Israel?
Inside the Veil is where the High priest went in and made the sacrifices for the people of Israel,
The veil separated the people from the Glory of God.
First the High priest would offer a sacrifice for himself before he go in.
If not he would be killed.
If his sacrifice wasn't accepted he would be killed.
This is why they had bells and a rope on him when he went in.
If you no longer hear the bells, that means something happened to him.
You would have to use the rope to pull him out.
These sacrifices had to be offered often, Christ was offered once and for all.
Christ was ending that Priesthood.
See Romans 10:1-21.
Verses 19-20
"Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus,
By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh;
Good morning too brother Spencer! I hope the work day goes well. Between work and still having all children at home is part of the reason for sometimes wanting to write here. Glad you seem to have the willingness to keep the subject of Christ and His coming moving ahead. God bless your thoughts and our conversation in Christ.
We are 100% in agreement that the blood of Christ is by which we are saved throughout eternity.
Israel, "through the house of Israel" will be saved by the same way they were saved on the OT.
(But not all.) So, in Romans 11:26 where it says And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, I believe it's those of the house of Israel who will except Christ finished work on the cross. Their blindness will be removed when they call on Christ in the tribulation. You see the church is never called the house of Israel.
In the OT, before the Church was formed, those who were saved, by faith they looked ahead with those ordinances pointing them to one who would come as their redeemer "Christ"
We look back at the Cross in faith for our redemption, In the Millennium kingdom those who are saved will do the same.
Those who are saved will look back at the finish work of Christ on the cross. Everything else is a memorial. sacrifices etc.
During the tribulation period Israel will be driven to call on their Messiah as prophesied in Hosea 5:15. Also in Matthew 23:39.
obviously, they seen him again, He's saying you won't behold him again as a Nation. (They will remain blinded) as mentioned in Luke 19:42.
You also see this mentioned clearly in Zechariah 13:6-9.
Peter makes mention of a future salvation for the Nation/house of Israel in Acts 15:9-11 when studying it carefully.
And James follows it up in verses 14-17.
Simeon hath declared how God at the first did visit the Gentiles, to take out of them a people for his name.
And to this agree the words of the prophets; as it is written,
After this I will return, and will build again the tabernacle of David, which is fallen down; and I will build again the ruins thereof, and I will set it up:
That the residue of men might seek after the Lord, and all the Gentiles, upon whom my name is called, saith the Lord, who doeth all these things.
Good evening brother Spencer, I hope all is well your way. Very hot here but no fires so far. :)
This scripture is the beginning of how some Amillennialism thinking Christians meditate on where we might be in time.
"Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times." Daniel 9:25 KJV
It was a very important time in Jewish history as they were carried into Babylon and by God's great Providence set free by Cyrus the King. His decree was momentous. By interpreting the seven weeks separate from the three score and two weeks as it is written it is a special period of time standing alone. These seven weeks can be weeks of days and we know from Bible history that the years in rebuilding the holy city were very much so troublesome times. 62 more years after these seven weeks of days makes 69 weeks. At the end of the 69th week the Messiah came and was cut off mid-week in the 70th week. The transgression being full in the 70th week. Approximately 3-1/2 weeks (37 years?) later in the spring was the beginning of destruction of the holy city which ended in the fall.
Part of this great mystery involves Herod the Great and he wanting to protect his kingdom and power and the spirit that enabled him was an antichrist spirit.
There are many scriptures that can point to this viewpoint with keeping all of the Gospel teachings without violence.
"And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?
The disciples asked Jesus 3 questions and he answered them in verse 15.

Another way of saying 3.5 years!
