    The Scroll

"A scroll written within and on the back sealed with seven seals." The tableau is identical with the night vision revealed to Daniel the seer.(Dan.7:10) There are different emphases, which we need to understand first. The night vision is intended as a tag to indicate the post-angelic revolt. 'Judgment was set' gives us additional clues: judgment is assigned to the Son so the scroll with seven seals points, as consequential. "Go your way, Daniel, for the words are shut up and sealed until the time of the end "(Dan.12:8-9) In the last chapter of the Book of Daniel it is clear that it was a matter for the Lamb slain before the worlds began and for the names entered in his book of life.(Re.13:8). Visions of Daniel and John are about the same but clothed with appropriate symbolism. This is a clue to understand the Book of the Revelation.

The seven seals work similar to the creation account was set in seven days. For example we have the Four Horsemen colour coded and when the Lamb breaks the first seal we are shown the rider on the white horse; a crown was given to him. (Re.6:2) "And he came out conquering and to conquer. In the night vision mentioned above Daniel sees it in slightly altered form. "One like a Son of man"(Dan.7:13-14) to whom was given dominion and glory and glory and a kingdom" which in the case of John we are shown a crown instead. We see him again in Ch.19. He is the Word of God. It makes sense why the Spirit gave the elders and the four beasts the role of MC. Their body is very much the personification of saints redeemed by the word of God. Likewise the man on the red horse is the personification of war which is proxy for the Beast who shall appear in Re.13.1-3; St James asks from whence did war issue forth.(Jas.4:1-2) Breaking of seals by Law of Gradation catalogues nations whose pride and authority came from Satan. . "Wrath of the Lamb is come and who can stand?"(Re.6:16-17)
