And thou shalt make the breastplate of judgment with cunning work; after the work of the ephod thou shalt make it; of gold, of blue, and of purple, and of scarlet, and of fine twined linen, shalt thou make it. (Ex.28:16-17)
The same foursquare specified for the most holy place is continued in the matter of garments, which symbolize righteousness. The office of the high priest was with reference to Jesus Christ the High Priest of our profession. (He.3:1). Righteousness of service was imputed to priests whose service stopped with death. For this reason foursquare refers to the earth.
Most holy place referred to a certain space. It is as distinct as God commanding Moses 'for the place whereon thou standest is holy ground.' So he had no right to come near Him as he was, 'Take off your sandals' (Ex.3:5). God consecrates specific part for His purpose. His righteousness is established in terms of space.
Foursquare is the breastplate. It had to be a span in length and breadth when doubled, and consequently two spans long one way before it was doubled. Between these doublings, the Urim and Thummim were placed. This foursquare doubled so it carried the two stones, which refers to the fourth office of the High Priest. It is a breastplate of judgement which Jesus Christ as the Word represented grace and truth.
Jesus Christ as the fulfillment. Alpha Omega, the beginning and the ending(Re.1:8). Foursquare is applied to eternity where the holy city of God has same length, breadth and it relates to time. Thus the High Priest represented by Levitical priesthood has a fourth dimension which is of time. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever (He.13:8)
