    Kab

Also spelt as cab: a dry measure which is mentioned in this verse, "And the fourth part of a cab of dove's dung for five pieces of silver".(2 Ki.6:25). It is similar as jot or tittle, to indicate insignificance however has their place in context of the whole. Owing to man's fallen state even qabh (or kab) is overvalued. In such times of distress the Prodigal son must content with husks ('And no man gave unto him.'). War brings famine, death hunger and plague in its wake. Ways of the world allow life of indulgence and also bring affluenza. Come crisis, man is left to feed himself.

The context here is the famine in Samaria. Because of wickedness in high places the prophet of God requires a hiding place to which ravens bring food.(1 Ki.17:4). By the same token God is longsuffering who lets sinner survive, so shall he find kab for a price no matter where. Fourth part of it signifies it. (See under N-numbers, command)
