    Ze.9:1-9 (1 of 2)

    "Behold Thy King!"

n vv.1-7 The cities mentioned trace Alexander's march through the Promised Land in 332-331B.C.

What we are concerned is not the march of events that gives men command over the places they ride over but who possess the land really? Dominion of it has been given to the Son. The decree enshrined in the everlasting covenant covers this sure promise of God."I will declare the decree: theLordhath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee./Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession." (Ps.2:7-8). In the night vision of Daniel also we came across what was determined before the worlds began. "And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him: his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed."(Dan.7:14)

In the Psalm cited here above is a Messianic prophesy "The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against theLord, and against his anointed, saying,/Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us./He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: theLordshall have them in derision." It is cringeworthy for a man to imagine he could defy the divine decree. Alexander was truly remarkable in conquering nations much mightier than that of Macedonia. But he died like all men and nothing of his glory remains, run over by march of history that has left its muddied bootprints leaving his glory seem more like a scarecrow. But David says, "Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion." (2:6). This is also a Messianic prophesy which has to do with temple of the latter days. The entire burden of Zechariah is more about the Salvation Plan set into active mode which occurs in heaven.
