"And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn."
This prophecy is intended for 'in that day', and it concerns exclusively for the remnant in Israel. For this reason we have this curious phrase 'every family apart.' repeated in vv.11-14. Jesus alluded to it when he explained the disciples who asked, 'and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?'(Matt.24:3). The sign of his coming is in the 'now' of the will of God. Similarly resurrection of every soul has its own order. "Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left./Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left." This being the case salvation is not left for family as a whole, but unto the one who is eternally vigilant and who has kept himself pure and unspotted from the world. So the only key is: "Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come."(Matt.24:42)
'The land shall mourn' Prophet Zechariah refers specifically about the ransacking of Jerusalem in 70 AD and overarches to the end times,' at that day' and we have this verse, "Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him."(Re.1:7). Spirit of grace poured on them enabled to see the significance the 'carcase'. "For wheresoever the carcase is, there will the eagles be gathered together." Regarding the remnant of the nation of Israel, it shall be at the end of the great tribulation. (Matt.24:28-31)
Notice 'every family apart' in v.11? compare with Matt.24:40 "Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left".
