    Ze.14 (1 of 3)

    overview:

"Behold, the day of theLordcometh, and thy spoil shall be divided in the midst of thee."(v.1) But this division is caused by a cataclysmic upheaval so "but Jerusalem will be on an elevated site," (v.10-TLB).

In order to understand this earthquake the Spirit sets an earlier earthquake as a precedent."yea, ye shall flee, like as ye fled from before the earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah." But here the Spirit is referring to the shaking the heaven and the earth once more. "Yet once, it is a little while, and I will shake the heavens, and the earth, and the sea, and the dry land."( Haggai 2:6). This is to elevate the city of Jerusalem on an elevated site, which is in the mid-air.

We have yet another clue as to the timing of the earthquake. Resurrection of the two witnesses. (Re.11) "And the same hour was there a great earthquake. And in v.14 we have this announcement from heaven: "And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever.". It is clear that the site of Jerusalem has shifted. For this reason we read that the vision of St John gives it in mid-air. "And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband."(Re.21:2)

The Spirit has been preparing us from the parting of the red sea how irrational it was to put your trust in your eyes. "This is what the LORD says: "Cursed is the one who trusts in man, who draws strength from mere flesh and whose heart turns away from the LORD."(Je.17:5-NIV) St Paul speaks "While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.:(2 Co.4:18)
