    Ze.14:10-11 (2 of 2)

    "New Jerusalem"

The Book of Zechariah begins with an angel taking measure of the city of Jerusalem, (Ch.2). He explains what he was at, "To measure Jerusalem, to see what is the breadth thereof, and what is the length thereof."(2:2). This was stated earlier,"Therefore thus saith theLord; I am returned to Jerusalem with mercies: my house shall be built in it, saith theLordof hosts, and a line shall be stretched forth upon Jerusalem./Cry yet, saying, Thus saith theLordof hosts; My cities through prosperity shall yet be spread abroad; and theLordshall yet comfort Zion, and shall yet choose Jerusalem." (1:16-17)

The Book of Zechariah is all about the building program of God where this book marks the beginning of the end. "And a line shall be stretched forth upon Jerusalem" so what we have in the Book of the Revelation we find the same angel explaining, "And he that talked with me had a golden reed to measure the city, and the gates thereof, and the wall thereof./And the city lieth foursquare, and the length is as large as the breadth: and he measured the city with the reed, twelve thousand furlongs. The length and the breadth and the height of it are equal./And he measured the wall thereof, an hundred and forty and four cubits, according to the measure of a man, that is, of the angel."(Re.21:11-17)

Only difference is that it is not Zechariah but Apostle John. In the lexicon of the Spirit the vision is the thing, and names of prophets and apostles are interchangeable, man chosen by God.
