    Ge,2:10-14

"And from thence it was parted, and became into four heads."

Parting of the river into four heads in the parlance of the Spirit is with four directions. In the abstract we came across how God separated the waters above the firmament from waters below.(1:7) Like the sun shining upon the unrighteous and the just alike holiness of God which is perfect makes no distinction with water of life and in four heads what the Spirit signifies is the word of God is for all. "Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters," It is sent forth to all. "Say unto them, As I live, saith the Lord GOD, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live: turn ye, turn ye from your evil ways; for why will ye die, O house of Israel?" (Ez.33:11) His mercy is at his terms. By refusing truth and refusing to obey his Will no amount Jesus talk shall save foolish shepherds.

North south, east and west have different significance than how we view on the earth. The sun of righteousness does not have to rise on the east as we refer to it in our everyday world. Since the matter directions have been covered we shall attend to v.15

"And the Lord God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it." His stewardship was with regards to his world where he was to discharge his tasks in obedience to His will. Recalling the Isaiah quote the spiritual space of each believer is intended as a place of Rest for God. " Incline your ear, and come unto me: hear, and your soul shall live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you."(Is.55:3)

Directly after posting this I took my siesta which serves me to unwind from the upheaval of my age as well 'through my roaring all the day long.' I woke up refreshed and the Holy Spirit revealed what was the significance of the river heads. Blessed be the Lord who loadeth us daily with benefits (Ps.32:3;68:19) and even in my eighties He has been faithful to serve me in this word ministry. All glory to Him alone, Amen

River heads require some explanation. Four heads pendant upon the river which shall not yield a satisfactory answer by locating the place names to geography. Instead we need look for significance of the Command number Four. Four signifies Jesus Christ the Word become flesh. Frequently we have a gold rush where the river bed brings gold deposits to surface. "The name of the first is Pison: that is it which compasseth the whole land of Havilah, where there is gold." (Ge.2:11) Hearing of the word of God produces faith.(Ro.10:17). The Spirit gives as to the quality of gold found there. "And the gold of that land is good." Here it is clear what the Spirit is aiming at. It is the most holy faith and it signifies North where the judgment comes from.(Je.1:14). Zion is located there. (Ps.48:2) The Spirit omits altogether what other rivers bring out. There is a gradation that invites comparison to the image in the King's Dream. (Dan.2:32-33)

"This image's head was of fine gold," This fine gold corresponds to the land of Havilah.

"His breast and his arms of silver," is of lesser quality(Ethiopia) "His belly and his thighs of brass,"(Assyria) while "His legs of iron" refers to Assyria (Is.8:7) The Spirit made clear of the folly of Israel in trusting Assyria. Jeremiah also refers to it.(Je.2:18) Historically it has revealed and the Spirit points to the manner the church espoused the moribund Imperial Rome to come into being rather than on the promises of God. This refers"His feet part of iron and part of clay".
