"And he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof"
God caused the deep sleep which is according to his purpose. Adam as a stand in for his body cannot have any other meaning than what his emblem signifies. " And the rib, which the Lord God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man./And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man."
We see how the living soul responds. Adam did not confirm his suspicion as to what the woman signified. He knew in his bones the truth. The Spirit gives us a parallel commentary on the development of the holy family. all those who shall be pressed into the church, the body of Christ.
