So I have been thinking about posting this for a few days now . First I needed to be 100 per cent certain that it's genuine and I am . My mom and step dad are very poorly and in their mid 70's , recently my step dad took a turn for the worse , his lungs , liver and now bowels are in a very poor state and he is as close to death as anyone can be whilst still living in his own home . They both sit in the kitchen a lot and have mobility issues so don't move unless they have to . My dad's chair is quite close to the sink . The other day , he went to throw a fork into the sink while sat in his chair , done it many times . He missed and the fork landed on the floor in front of the sink . Their cutlery is very old fashioned , heavy solid stainless steel with a silver plate , a family heirloom . It landed as you would expect it to . My dad went to get up to put it in sink but mom said leave it I will get it when I wash the dishes . They sat for a few more minutes then mom went to stand up to wash dishes , she didn't get up properly , she looked at the fork on the floor and sat straight down in shock . The tip of the handle was raised about one inch off the floor . Nothing was supporting it . She pointed to it , my dad saw it , they were both stunned . It stayed like that for ten full minutes , they took a photo . In the end they were so freaked out my dad got up , picked it up and threw it in the sink . I asked them what they thought and my dad replied , very emotionally : it must be Ian . Ian was his younger brother who killed himself over 40 years ago aged 28 . They would get drunk together and sing a song with the chorus : he ain't heavy , he's my brother . My dad has , he says , seen his ghost a few times . I don't believe in any of this , ghosts etc . But I'm stumped , wish I could post the photo on here . Any one have any thoughts ? I have experienced a lot of phenomena in my life but always believe there's a logical explanation .

Maybe a magnetic field at that point on the floor? Ususally stailess steel in not magnetic but sometimes they add some elements to make it magnetic.

If that was the case wouldn't it always be there ? We've done experiments at that point on the floor and nothing like that happens any more .

That is a very weird phenomena. So strange. Wondering if there was thunder storms in the area at that time or change in atmospheric pressure with an incoming storm. That may cause air to be supercharged and may account for such a happening. But, most likely, physics are involved here. I doubt it had anything to do with your Step-dad's brother. But evil spirits of the air can mess with unbelievers. I pray that this is not the case. I am sorry that your step dad is so very ill.

Dear Heavenly Father, we come to You today in the name of Your Son, Jesus, asking for revelation of why the fork did what it did. Ease Jema's and her parents' minds in affair. We know that You protect those who are Yours from evil so please, protect Jema and her parents' from evil effects in their home. We ask that You help Jema's step-dad in this illness, bring him to salvation and bring a good end to his life when the time comes. We ask that You help Jema and her mom to care for him at this time and to comfort them as they anticipate his passing sooner than they may have thought. Bless this entire family with Your peace, grace, mercy, and salvation for each family member. Help Jema speak words that come from the Holy Spirit that reach into their hearts in such a way that lead them to repentance and faith. Amen.

Magnetic fields are created by electric currents. If there was a flow of electric current around there (maybe cables inside the floor), then it could be possible to create a field. If you get a compass and put it there and see that the needle of that compass is moving to a different direction than it should do, then there is a field there. Maybe you should call for an Electrician. Saying that I don't dismiss the idea of something else, but firstly you should look for the most realistic answer, and maybe it is something important if there are cables around there.

Thanks Giannis , will ask them if they know of cables under there , my uncle lives next door to them and he put a magnet near the cutlery but it didn't respond in any way .

The other thing you can do is to put a magnet on that fork. If the fork is magnetic (most types of stainless steel are not magnetic, but there are some that they are) the magnet will be either attracted or repelled. If not then most probably it is not a case of a magnetic field.
