Over Manasseh's idolatries God had this warning,"Therefore thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Behold, Iambringingsuchevil upon Jerusalem and Judah, that whosoever heareth of it, both his ears shall tingle." (2 Ki.21:12-14). As long as their sins remained unconfessed and left it was one continuous stroke which came in many waves. In the generation of Jesus we have had the destruction of Jerusalem in AD 70. How can one say the present Jerusalem is a proof of God's favor to His people? "And I will forsake the remnant of mine inheritance, and deliver them into the hand of their enemies; and they shall become a prey and a spoil to all their enemies;"( v.14)

Jerusalem in His sight is still like a dish upside down. God has no use for it. Let us examine the exact words of His curse."And I will stretch over Jerusalem the line of Samaria, and the plummet of the house of Ahab: and I will wipe Jerusalem asa manwipeth a dish, wipingit, and turningitupside down."(2 Ki.21:13) Compare the inaugural vision shown to young Jeremiah. Here it is dish laid on the table upside down. A clear sign 'no service!' God implies that it is New Jerusalem that He has in mind. Is.2 refers to it. "And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of theLord's house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow unto it."(Is.2:2-4)

The city of Jerusalem as of old is finished. "All nations shall flow unto it." It is an universal call and first made to Abraham. Those who are called ought to flow into it. If so what was this noise of tumult and hubbub in 1947? How can you bring to life a dead horse? God judged Jerusalem as He did Egypt and Sodom. Spiritually the life is zero since God has rejected them. "And their dead bodies shall lie in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified"(Re.11:8)

Amen. It is Zion that is in focus. "This is Zion, whom no man seeketh after."Je.30:17 In order to seek after it Israel requires a fleshy heart."After those days, saith the Lord, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people."(31:33)

Je.31:15 'Slaughter of the innocents' is cited in the Gospel. As with prophetic books passages require special attention so spiritual is compared with spiritual. "Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, that I will sow the house of Israel and the house of Judah with the seed of man, and with the seed of beast." This is fulfilled and we read of the throne of God and of the Lamb" (Re.22:1).

Israel, a remnant shall find fulfillment. "How long wilt thou go about, O thou backsliding daughter? for the Lord hath created a new thing in the earth, A woman shall compass a man."(31:22) Not daughters of Jerusalem or of Zion but 'thou, daughter'
