What is the best way to memeize Bible verse? I would like to remember one or two verses a day.

Also I do have trouble some of the place names and people names. How can I deal with this? I would like to read the Bible KJV in church but trip up over the above two things. Also how best to read the Bible. As the voice of God? How would I do that? Or as a newsreader on the radio.

    Your comments would be welcome.

Study God's word until your ONE with the word, God will bring all scriptures to mind, you don't have to memorize them.

    Hello StuBo

I would like to give some suggestions on memorizing selected Scripture verses. While I am not sure if you are asking for this approach or for the memorizing of large passages of Scripture, I will speak to memorizing key verses. These practices have helped me to memorize verses that I can still quote word for word after several decades.

    1) Read the passage out loud several times throughout the day. By reading out loud you will develop a specific cadence to the words that one does not have when reading it silently.

    2) in a journal, write out the verse by hand and copy the verse over and over again in this journal. The act of writing engages the mind in additional activity that strengthens memory of what is written.

    3) Have another person read the verse out-loud to you often. This uses the brain in a different way than the above two actions and will help you to remember in addition to other actions I mention.

    4) Try to make the verse into a melody that can be sung. This employs additional aspects of brain activity. We remember words to songs so well because of the melodies. If you can play an instrument and play the verse on it as you sing it, that would be an additional boost for memorizing.

    5) Concentrate on the meaning of the verse so that your mind will associate the actual wording with the lesson it teaches.

    6) Concentrate on one verse at a time for a set period of a week or several weeks.

    7) Be patient and not rushed.

I am sure that there are other helps for memorizing Scripture. In all of this, being prayerful about learning the verse and ask the Holy Spirit to help you. Scripture memorization should ne done "in the Spirit" and not just by using our minds to learn, but both are needed for a verse to be ingrained in our minds, hearts, and souls.

    Hope this is helpful.
