Jesus reading the passage from the Isaiah as recorded in the gospel was unto the meek. "because the Lord hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek." In this context Jesus referred to them in his sermon. "Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth." (Matt.5:5). So Jesus to all intent and purpose was calling all those who would receive him, 'For I am meek and lowly,'. In Isaiah we read what eye has not seen nor ears have heart what the Lord had prepared for them the same is referred by St Paul "But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him."(1 Co.2:9).
That they might be called trees of righteousness is what 'God hath prepared for them that love him. So we not looking at Israel or the Gentiles but who according to His promise, are blessed. As with Abrham they are 'pilgrims and sojourners' on the earth looking for Zion, the city whose maker and builder is God. "Blessed is the man whose strength is in thee; in whose heart are the ways of them." (Ps.84:5). They were fools in the eyes of the world and they were mourners 'in Zion" but they have goal. "They go from strength to strength, every one of them in Zion appeareth before God."(Ps.84:7) Does it matter days or years as the ungodly count their days?
Here we have the tree of righteouness,."And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; "(Ps.2:3) This tree is set in direct frame of reference so eternity is what charaacterizes every one of them. ""In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations." Twelve manner of fruits.
