    1 Ki.4 King Solomon (1 of 2)

"And he (King Solomon) had peace on all sides round about him (v.24)".

The Spirit presents King Solomon as a double for the Son. The above verse denotes one aspect which is associated with Jesus Christ. He was the prince of peace.. "For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counseller, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace(Is.9:6). Much of this Messianic prophecy could be applied to King Solomon as well. Solomon was the heir of promise, beloved of God, and we have this verse, 'And (David) he called his name Jedidiah, because of theLord(2 Sa.12:25)'. Jesus was beloved of God and while he lived the voice from heaven testified 'This is my beloved Son.'

God placed the government as we are following his reign and his wisdom as given from heaven was wonderful.

To sum Prophet Isaiah looks ahead into the Salvation Plan of God and gives us three offices to which God called King Solomon.

Jesus Christ as the Son of man was the Servant-King. Secondly the Millennial reign of the Messiah King. Thirdly as the Judge during which he shall judge all nations. "And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd dividethhissheep from the goats (Matt.25:32)". Thus three is a command number generally applied to the Son whose death for three days and nights is the seal which runs like a lietmotiv holding the entire narrative together.

It is for this reason the Spirit prefaced the reign of Solomon with three parts. Before bringing his bride he had three vital tasks. It is conveyed in this passage,"until he had made an end of building his own house, and the house of theLord, and the wall of Jerusalem round about.(3:1)." With regard to the bride, was she the bride of Christ?
