The above passage refers to an earlier incident,"And when they came to Nachon's threshingfloor, Uzzah put forth his hand to the ark of God, and took hold of it; for the oxen shook it./And the anger of theLordwas kindled against Uzzah; and God smote him there for his error; and there he died by the ark of God(2 Sa.6:6-7)" The oxen did not make mistake. The Spirit through Isaiah tells that animals had a better understanding on the holiness of God. Balaam's ass showed better understanding when he saw the angel with a drawn sword barring passage.
The living creature assumed the appropriate aspect as the avenging angel.
