Loneliness. i probably never going to get married or have children because it would be too much for me to handle. so i'm asking God to take these desires away. i'm only 27 but due to mental health and mental disabilities. i don't think it will never happen.

    Dear CSmith 925,

I'm old, and I remember decades ago struggling at your age. Here's the thing, when I was young, depression was not treated with drugs. The state of being sad and discouraged is not a medical condition. It's a spiritual condition. Sadness cannot be cured by medicine. If you are on SSRI types of medication, read the warning labels. No medical drug should cause thoughts of self harm. Please get off any of those drugs with ssri .

Ask yourself, what is really bothering you. Try to find the root cause of the sadness. If you find the root, it'll be easier to work through. And, know that Jesus said in this world we will have tribulation. It's just a fact that cannot be escaped. For me, knowing that life will be difficult, braces me. Helps me. I'm ready for it.

Here is God's promise to YOU:

"For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is perfect toward him." 2 Chron 16:9.

I hope this comment is somewhat helpful to you. I have children your age, so I feel especially concerned. May you feel the presence of the LORD. Peace to you.

    Dear CSmith 925,

Jesus is called The Great Physician for a reason. He will heal your heart, soul, and mind. Cling to him with both hands. Don't let go. Sometimes, the healing starts after a searching out of private sins, and then confession. Many times, the troubles in our minds are the result of wrong choices we have made. Everything is going to work well for you with Christ as your physician. Amen amen.

    Dear CSmith,

Brain research shows a big difference between the brain and its functioning of a person with mental illness and one who does not have mental illness. Mental illness is multi-faceted, so there is a physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual component to those who suffer from it.

I do not agree with Hadassah on this. Some medical treatments are helpful to people with mental illness. My brother has bi-polar disorder and didn't get proper treatment until he was 50. Since then, the medication keeps his moods stable and he is able to function more normally than ever since he was 14. Two of my sons suffer from depression-anxiety disorder and medical treatment is helping them, though they are still in need of healing from God, especially spiritual healing.

Mental illness involves direct imbalances in brain chemistry. This is where medications and medical treatments have a part. But that said, I do believe that the enemy takes advantage of such physical weaknesses to pull people into despair and other debilitating aspects of such disorders.

I will be praying for you in your situation CSmith925. When I pray for my sons each day, I will include you in my prayers.
