Foursquare explains the character of the city. "And the city lieth foursquare

This flesh represents bringing world of the Spirit as well as the saints redeemed from the earth by gospel work. 12x1000 is same as And the Lord said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years"(Ge.6:3)

Four winds we find mentioned elsewhere. Dan.7:1; "And after these things I saw four angels standing on the four corners of the earth, holding the four winds of the earth, that the wind should not blow on the earth, nor on the sea, nor on any tree."-Re.7:1 The wind should not blow till God has sealed 144,000 representing the tribes of Israel.
